Looking back at the fireworks moment that brought China and Finland to the DIFF 2024 final

For the first time in the history of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), the two teams that faced off in the final qualifying round were also the two best teams that made it to the final night. Let's take a look back at the "inconclusive" performances of China and Finland on the 4th night of DIFF 2024.

The confrontation on the night of June 29 between the two teams China and Finland was likened to an “early final” with artistic light shows and completely different musical tastes. And indeed, China – the rookie from the world-famous city of Liuyang in the fireworks industry, and the “former king” Finland with countless prestigious awards around the world were officially chosen to “rematch” in the final night of DIFF 2024.

During the competition night between the two hottest teams in this year's DIFF season, the 10,000-seat grandstand on the banks of the Han River was filled very early. With a huge investment and an increase of more than 3,000 seats compared to the 2023 DIFF season, it seems that this increased number of seats is still not enough to meet the demand for live fireworks viewing of this year's audience, especially with the first appearance of the Chinese team - a famous empire in the world's fireworks industry and the return of the Finnish team that won the 2019 DIFF.

Presenting at DIFF, Liuyang Jingduan New-art Display Co from China amazed the 10,000 spectators with a performance imbued with traditional Chinese culture. Hardly anyone could have imagined that melodious, lyrical, and profound folk music could blend so perfectly with thousands of exploding fireworks.

The performance titled “Summer Song” by the Chinese team was completely new, with 4,000 fireworks of many different types, creating magical colors for a watercolor painting of China with many breathtakingly beautiful scenes.

In particular, using 3-4-5 inch fireworks and single fireworks, the Chinese team carved a forest of light into the sky of Da Nang, where low-level fireworks evoke the beauty of flower gardens, poetic butterflies in the middle of a summer night, and high-altitude fireworks create a vibrant, vibrant summer of youth.

“I was really surprised by the performance of the Chinese team, they are rookies and I am very happy to see new styles, completely new fireworks designs at DIFF” – said Ms. Nadia Shakira, Director of Global 2000 consulting company.

Meanwhile, in complete contrast to China's romantic and ethereal light show, Finland "burned up" Da Nang's summer night with a modern, vibrant and exciting performance from light effects to music.

Music was the most impressive “twist” that the Joho Pyro Professional Fireworks AB team from Finland brought to the audience right after the performance of the Chinese team. If the Chinese team took visitors into a peaceful, lyrical world with many romantic moments, the Finnish team exploded with passionate Rock melodies that made the audience restless.

10,000 colorful fireworks with constantly changing effects on the background of exciting Rock music created a performance that could not be more pleasing to the eye. Artist Ho Dinh Nam Kha - a member of the DIFF 2024 Jury shared: "Finland has never disappointed the audience, they always bring the best performances, worthy of the title of former DIFF champion. Obviously they are back to win again".

Starting with the famous rock song Bad Romance and ending explosively with the immortal rock song The Final Countdown by the band Europe, Joho Pyro truly created a performance that gave many people "goosebumps".

In the sky, thousands of fireworks explode, with countless effects, unique shapes and impressive color bands, taking visitors into a surreal world, true to the name "A Million Dreams" of the performance.

On the morning of June 30, after 3 hours of intense work by the Jury at the ceremony to announce the two teams entering the DIFF 2024 finals, China and Finland surpassed 6 teams from the US, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Vietnam to become the two most outstanding teams entering the DIFF 2024 finals.

“In terms of creativity and originality, I have to give both teams 10/10. Both teams have very different styles. They “played” with the emotions of songs, famous songs that everyone knows,” said Ms. Nadia Shakira.

Also at the announcement ceremony, in order to ensure objectivity for the final night, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City - the chief judge, conducted a draw to divide the performance order in the final night. Accordingly, the Chinese team will perform first and the Finnish team will perform second. The final night of DIFF 2024 with the theme "Made of Young Generation - Future Beat" will take place on the evening of July 13, 2024, and will be broadcast live at 8:10 p.m. on July 13 on VTV1 channel.

Planned and prepared by Da Nang city for nearly a year, with the support and investment of hundreds of billions of VND from Sun Group, DIFF 2024 has affirmed itself as a large-scale international fireworks festival, and a playground that many fireworks teams around the world wish to try their hand at.
