Many schools consider high school transcripts for admission to the medical field.

Two public schools and many private schools announced that they will consider high school transcripts for admission to the medical field, some schools only require a grade 12 academic record of excellent or higher.

This year , Dai Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy will recruit 600 medical students, of which 120 will be considered based on academic records.

The school uses three combinations including B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English) and B08 (Math, Biology, English). The admission score is the sum of the average score of 6 semesters of the three subjects and the priority points. The school adds 0.25-1 point to candidates who have excellent student awards at the provincial level or higher or have international foreign language certificates.

In addition, Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy considers 60 quotas with its own project. Candidates with IELTS certificate of 6.5 or higher and excellent academic performance for 3 years; or students specializing in Math, Chemistry, Biology, with provincial encouragement prize in one of these three subjects, excellent academic performance for 3 years are eligible to apply.

Hai Duong Medical Technical University also reserves the admission quota for the Medical major for the method of combining international language certificates with academic records. The condition is that candidates must have an IELTS certificate of 6.0 or TOEFL iBT from 60/120 points or higher, with 3 years of excellent academic performance, an average score of 6 semesters of two subjects Math - Chemistry, Math - Physics or Math - Biology from 8 or higher.

Phenikaa University (Hanoi) has not announced the quota for each major but said it will consider high school transcripts for admission to the Medical major, similar to last year. Admission scores are based on grade 11 and first semester grade 12 transcripts with subjects in the group.

To apply, candidates must have excellent 12th grade academic performance and a total average score of 24 or higher for all subjects in the group.

With the same conditions, Dai Nam University (Hanoi) and Van Lang University (HCMC) offer two ways to consider transcripts, including considering 11th grade and 12th grade semester I scores or calculating 12th grade scores separately. Meanwhile , Hanoi University of Business and Technology only considers 12th grade scores.

A number of other schools accept applications for admission to the Medical major based on high school transcripts if the 12th grade academic performance is excellent or higher or the graduation score is 8 or higher, such as Hong Bang International University (HCMC), Vo Truong Toan (Hau Giang), Phan Chau Trinh (Quang Nam). This is also the minimum requirement set by the Ministry of Education and Training for training majors in the health sector.

Vo Truong Toan University also considers combining academic records with graduation exam scores. Candidates can choose one subject based on their exam scores and two subjects in a combination based on their grade 12, or grade 10, or 11 transcripts.

Top medical schools such as Hanoi Medical University and Ho Chi Minh City Medical University do not use academic records for admission. These schools only consider graduation exam scores, or combine exam scores with international language certificates.

The medical training program lasts 6 years. Tuition fees at schools currently range from several tens to several hundreds of millions of VND per year. For example, at Hanoi Medical University, the tuition fee is about 21-55 million VND, and at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, it is 41-77 million VND. The highest fee is for the Dentistry - Maxillofacial Surgery program at Hong Bang International University with 250 million VND, and the Vietnam - Germany Medical program at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine - 209 million VND per year.
