Epson considers Vietnam a market with great potential for development in the field of automation.

Mr. Vivekanand Patil, Head of Robotics at Epson, said that the demand for industrial robots, especially 4-axis robots (SCARA) in Vietnam is increasing rapidly because of the shift of factories from China to Vietnam.

Factories that bring their entire production lines from China will need the cooperation of factories in Vietnam, so they have promoted automation solutions from local factories.

In addition, the Vietnamese market has many factories in automobile manufacturing, electronics and food processing that have also increased rapidly after Covid-19 and they are looking for automation solutions for their production lines to improve productivity.

With experience in developing industrial robots in many countries around the world, Epson considers Vietnam a market with great potential for developing the automation field.

Faced with this positive signal, Epson has had specific strategies to boost investment, closely following the global "automation" trend and in line with the policies of the Vietnamese Government.

“Recently, many large technology corporations have invested in semiconductor factories in Vietnam. These corporations will attract a series of supporting companies from Taiwan (China), Korea, and China, leading to a sharp increase in demand for robots for automation. We forecast that the demand for robots will increase 2-3 times in Vietnam in the near future,” said Mr. Vivekanand Patil.

Over the past 40 years in the industry, Epson has recorded many efforts and achieved many commendable achievements. 2023 is the 12th consecutive year that Epson has won the title of the world's No. 1 SCARA robot manufacturer in terms of market share.

Mr. Vivekanand Patil also said: “Epson’s SCARA robots have the advantage of being compact and serving the automation needs for production lines in factories. Our robot solutions are suitable for all factories because they bring productivity and efficiency. Epson robots have three strengths: high speed, flexibility and high precision. Epson itself is a clear demonstration of this when our robots have participated in assembling Senko watches that require very high precision.”

At the VIAF 2023 Exhibition in Bac Ninh, which took place from November 8-10, 2023, Epson introduced 4 industrial robot products: T3-B, T6-B, LS3-B and VT6L to businesses in the Northern market.

Epson representative said that for the T3-B Robot series, there is an integrated controller to save space, flexible configuration and easy setup.

The T6-B robot offers a large range of motion, is easy to handle errors, and is capable of cutting energy consumption by more than 50%.

The LS3-B robot has a simple arm design, suitable for pick-and-drop and assembly tasks.

In addition, Epson also launched the VT6 Robot line with camera system, a 6-axis robot model that possesses many advanced features of Epson such as powerful Epson RC+ development software and high-precision camera system.

Epson is currently focusing on factories that manufacture and assemble electronic components in Vietnam. These factories are using a lot of robots to automate production lines.

In Vietnam, many traditional factories are looking to automate to improve productivity and move towards smart factories.

Mr. Vivekanand Patil said that Epson will also target these groups to serve. Epson has also offered many solutions to meet the needs of Vietnamese factories, not just foreign-invested enterprises.

Customers not only buy robots but also have integrated systems in complete lines for smart factories.

Epson has partners who can bring complete smart factory construction solutions to Vietnamese businesses.

Epson is currently focusing on factories that manufacture and assemble electronic components in Vietnam. These factories are using a lot of robots to automate production lines.

In addition to electronics and automobile factories, there are many other potential fields that need automation such as packaging, pharmaceuticals, etc.

“In the near future, Vietnamese network operators will commercialize 5G. This will be the connection platform for smart factories. This will also promote the automation of factories and industrial parks. This is an opportunity for robotics and automation solution providers,” said Mr. Vivekanand Patil.
