Many film projects expected to "storm" the box office are preparing to hit theaters right after Lunar New Year 2025.
Among them, the film "Den am hon" directed by Hoang Nam started showing from February 7 (the 10th day of Tet). This film brings together many actors: Chieu Xuan, Meritorious Artist Quang Teo, Hao Khang, Hoang Kim Ngoc, Diem Trang... The film is inspired by the work "Chuyen nguoi con gai Nam Xuong", set in a northern village during feudal times. The character Thuong raises her son named Linh alone and waits for her husband to return from the army. Linh accidentally picks up a lamp and calls the shadow that appears on the wall when the lamp is lit, her father...
After "Den am hon", "Nha gia tien" - a spiritual film with humorous and family elements, directed by Huynh Lap - will be released in theaters from February 21. The film revolves around the story of Gia Minh (played by Huynh Lap) and his younger sister My Tien (Phuong My Chi). My Tien is a digital content creator with a strong, independent personality. She and her family always have a generation gap and differences in ideology and communication, leading to a loss of connection with relatives.
Huynh Lap expressed: "Many young people wonder what the meaning of burning incense for their ancestors is. Some people are bored with the idea of eating and organizing death anniversaries... That's why I wrote the script "Ancestral House". The film deals with the spirituality of ancestor worship, the culture of Vietnamese people".
Some horror films will also be released after Tet. Among them, "Quy nhap trang" - directed by Pom Nguyen, released from March 7 - brings together the cast: Kha Nhu, Quang Tuan, Van Dung, Meritorious Artist Thanh Nam, Meritorious Artist Phu Don... The film is set in a mountainous area, where villagers make a living by digging graves, embalming and burying the dead. One day, the couple Tuan Quang (played by Quang Tuan) and Minh Nhu (played by Kha Nhu) accidentally discover an unclaimed grave on their land. From here, a series of events not only happen to this family but also to the villagers.
The film "The Yin and Yang Road" directed by Hoang Tuan Cuong, released on March 28, stars Bach Cong Khanh, Tuan Dung... The films: "Detective Kien: Headless Case", "Get Rich with Ghosts" part 2, "Under the Lake", "Five-Hop Pig"... are also scheduled to be released in early 2025.
Meanwhile, the romantic comedy "Closing the deal", directed by Bao Nhan - Nam Cito, will be released on March 7, with many actors: Thuy Tien, Quyen Linh, People's Artist Hong Van, Hong Dao... The film tells the story of the busy life of Hoang Linh - a young "closing the deal warrior" and Uncle An (Quyen Linh) - an office worker and a technology motorbike taxi driver. Hoang Linh and Uncle An, who are opposites in age, background and personality, find a pure friendship, creating new passions.
The film "Tunnel: Sun in the Dark" directed by Bui Thac Chuyen, belongs to the historical and war genre, and will be released in theaters from April 4. This film is set in 1967 about the war in Vietnam, with actors: Thai Hoa, Quang Tuan, Ho Thu Anh... participating.
The film "Lat mat 8: Vong tay nang" by Ly Hai, a comedy, romance, and music genre, will be released on April 30, with more than 40 actors. The film "Thu tinh gio ma nu" by director Le Thien Vien, the animated film "De men diu luu ky" ... are also lined up for release.
Director Vo Thanh Hoa commented: "The film market in 2024 is quite good, with only 26 films released in theaters but the total revenue is higher than in 2023. Of which, Tran Thanh and Ly Hai's films account for half of the total revenue. From the favorable foundation of the old year, entering the new year 2025, filmmakers have made efforts to make more works, for the common development of Vietnamese cinema."
