In the first 9 months of 2024, the business and service situation in the province was quite vibrant. Many businesses, commercial establishments, supermarkets, and shopping centers always maintained an abundant supply of goods and increased investment in new, diverse products. Supermarkets, mini-supermarkets, and convenience stores organized many promotional programs to stimulate demand and attract a bustling number of consumers.

In addition, in the past 9 months, the province has also organized a conference to announce the provincial planning and promote investment, creating a positive spillover effect in all fields; piloted the opening and maintenance of a walking street in Phan Rang-Thap Cham city on weekend evenings; on the occasion of the April 30, May 1 and September 2 holidays, workers have long holidays, so people's demand for tourism has increased. On the other hand, the province has also directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; localities to implement many solutions to stimulate tourism such as: Developing new tourism products, investing, upgrading facilities, improving service quality, building unique and attractive packages and tours associated with discount policies, stimulating demand during the summer to attract tourists in the province. As a result, in the first 9 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached VND 32,278.9 billion, an increase of 14.1% over the same period last year (the same period in 2023 increased by 16.6%).

By industry, retail sales of goods reached VND 24,570.0 billion, accounting for 76.12% of the total and increasing by 13.9% over the same period last year. Revenue from accommodation and catering services reached VND 5,015.9 billion, accounting for 15.54% of the total and increasing by 15.9% over the same period last year. Revenue from tourism and travel reached VND 14.2 billion, accounting for 0.04% and increasing by 24.1%. Revenue from other services reached VND 2,678.8 billion, accounting for 8.30% and increasing by 15.5%.

In terms of prices, in the first 9 months of 2024, the average consumer price index (CPI) increased by 4.58% compared to the same period last year. In September alone, the CPI increased slightly by 0.12% compared to the previous month and by 3.24% compared to the same period last year. The main reason for the increase was due to the increase in prices of some items, including increased prices of school supplies and stationery due to students' demand for books and pens at the beginning of the school year; increased prices of vegetables due to the impact of increased national vegetable prices after super typhoon Yagi caused heavy damage in the northern provinces, low market supply; gas prices were adjusted to increase according to world gas prices.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Director of the Ninh Thuan Statistics Office, said: In the 4.58% increase in the average CPI in the first 9 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, all 11/11 groups of goods and services had price index increases. Specifically: The housing and construction materials group increased the highest at 12.41%, of which actual house rent increased by 32.86% due to increased service costs; housing repair services increased by 0.78% due to increased labor wages; household electricity prices increased by 8.76% due to hot weather, increased electricity demand and on November 9, 2023, EVN adjusted the average retail electricity price to increase; gas prices increased by 8.78% according to world gas prices..., causing the price index of this group to increase sharply compared to the same period.

Next, the group of other goods and services increased by 6.41% due to the sharp increase in gold prices, affecting jewelry items, which increased by 26.44%. In addition, due to the increase in labor costs and the increase in demand for beauty, the prices of services increased, such as: Hair cutting and shampooing prices increased by 8.22%; personal care service prices increased by 23.50%; health insurance prices increased by 23.80%, increasing according to the new basic salary from July 1, 2024.

The food and catering services group increased by 4.97%, mainly due to the rice index increasing by 25.14% (increasing according to the export rice price). The medicine and medical services group increased by 3.24%, due to the application of new medical service prices according to Circular No. 22/2023/TT-BYT dated November 17, 2023 of the Ministry of Health. The garment, hat, and footwear group increased by 2.76%, due to increased input materials and production costs, specifically: Garment increased by 2.66%, of which the ready-made clothing group increased by 2.58%; other garments and hats group increased by 2.62%; footwear increased by 2.17%; garment services increased by 9.22%, of which garment wages increased by 10.66%; footwear repair services increased by 3.72%.

Groups: Beverages and tobacco increased by 2.45%; household equipment and appliances increased by 2.17%; education group increased by 2.02%; culture, entertainment and tourism group increased by 1.75%; transportation group increased by 0.51%; post and telecommunications group increased by 0.02%.
