The Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to organize a conference to connect and promote trade of agricultural and aquatic products in Ca Mau province. On November 15, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to organize a trade connection conference, aiming to create conditions for businesses in Ca Mau province to meet partners, seek business cooperation opportunities, expand markets as well as create conditions for international businesses, importers, domestic and foreign investors to seek sources of imported goods and quality products.
The conference was attended by departments, branches and localities in the province; Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, Japan, China and the US. Especially, there was the presence of import enterprises from Singapore, China, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, India, Hong Kong (China) and major domestic supermarket chains (AEON, Coopmart, Central Retail, Bach Hoa Xanh, Kingfood Mart), import-export companies, associations, business support organizations; seafood processing and exporting enterprises, OCOP product manufacturing and specialty products in Ca Mau province.
Ca Mau has about 280,000 hectares of aquaculture area, annual shrimp output of about 250,000 tons, providing local raw materials for 41 seafood processing factories, with an export turnover of more than 1.3 billion USD/year.
Compared to other shrimp exporting powers, Ca Mau shrimp has a great competitive advantage thanks to its value-added products. These products have helped Ca Mau shrimp maintain its market share in demanding markets such as the US, Europe, Japan, Australia, Korea, etc. for many years.
In addition to shrimp, Ca Mau crab is also a product with a special competitive advantage, outstanding for its delicious, sweet, firm taste that is hard to match anywhere else. Each year, Ca Mau crab output reaches about 25,000 tons.
In addition to shrimp and crab, Ca Mau province also has 151 OCOP products recognized. Of which, 29 products have 4 stars, 122 products have 3 stars. The basic subjects ensure production capacity conditions, production linkages and wish to connect for development in the coming time.
Mr. Le Van Su - Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee - said that besides the achieved results, trade promotion activities, export situation, and finding stable output for Ca Mau province's products still have difficulties and limitations.
"Ca Mau province really hopes that domestic and foreign importers, distributors and retailers will support connections and consultations so that Ca Mau enterprises can complete products that meet standards, regulations, quality as well as market needs and tastes; purchase and sale methods, and conditions that must be ensured during the business cooperation process.
Ca Mau province hopes that the parties will actively seek, connect directly, and exchange more clearly about products and goods," Mr. Su shared.

Ms. Phan Thi Thang - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade - said that Ca Mau's key agricultural and aquatic products are present in more than 60 countries and territories around the world.
"The Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to accompany the People's Committee of Ca Mau province and enterprises of the province in implementing trade connection activities and trade promotion for Ca Mau's strong products. As well as removing obstacles and difficulties arising in international trade activities, creating the most favorable conditions for enterprises to develop, diversify export markets, ensure sustainability and longevity for the supply chain, and actively contribute to export promotion and trade promotion activities to promote the development of the domestic market and Vietnam's exports," Ms. Thang emphasized.
Representatives of the Vietnamese Trade Counselors in Japan, Singapore, India, China, etc. highly appreciated the advantages and potential of agricultural and aquatic products of Ca Mau province, and at the same time reminded the locality of some issues in exporting goods to the above countries.
Within the framework of the program, there was also a production and distribution connection session, as well as direct trade connection between enterprises. Before that, delegates also had a field trip to survey the actual operations of a number of seafood processing factories and OCOP product production facilities in Ca Mau province.
