The Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is one of the major Party Committees under the Party Committee of the Central Agencies and has a tradition of more than 70 years. After merging with the Overseas Party Committee according to Decision No. 209-QD/TW dated November 26, 2019 of the Politburo, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs became a grassroots Party Committee taking on additional tasks of overseas Party work.
Therefore, the Party work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has many unique characteristics, both undertaking the work of Party building at home and abroad, and at the same time leading the work of mobilizing the masses and the Vietnamese community abroad.
Associated with the implementation of foreign political tasks
It can be said that the Party building work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recent times, especially since the 13th National Party Congress, has had many positive changes. Promoting the tradition of revolutionary diplomacy founded and directly directed by President Ho Chi Minh, the Party Committee of the Ministry attaches great importance to political and ideological work, unification of will and action, strict organization and discipline to meet the requirements set by the Central Committee for foreign affairs and Party work.
In the spirit of closely linking Party building work with the implementation of foreign political tasks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs always identifies the core and consistent task as "ensuring the highest national interests on the basis of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, equality, cooperation, and mutual benefit", "Continuing to implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification; proactively and actively integrating comprehensively, deeply, and effectively into the international community; maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, and constantly enhancing Vietnam's international position and prestige".
The Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued Resolution No. 01-NQ/DUB dated August 25, 2021 on "Strengthening political and ideological work in the current situation", Resolution No. 02-NQ/DUB dated December 24, 2021 on "Improving the leadership capacity, fighting strength of grassroots party organizations and the quality of party members", Resolution No. 07-NQ/DUB dated May 15, 2023 on "Improving the quality of party cell activities" and Decision No. 396/QD-BNG promulgating the Regulation on the use of social networks for cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.
Thereby, helping cadres and party members to be imbued with the Party's guidelines and viewpoints, the State's policies and laws, promoting the exemplary role of cadres and party members, especially leaders, in implementing, propagating and protecting the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, building standards of behavior and conduct on social networks, and disciplining speech. Thereby helping to improve the political capacity of cadres and party members, unifying and unanimously implementing the Party's Platform, guidelines and policies.
Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation
Since the 13th National Party Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has always innovated the content and form of propaganda, promptly provided official information, spread positive information about the country's achievements, the Party and State's policies and guidelines, as a basis for ideological orientation and public opinion, helping to raise awareness and sense of responsibility of cadres and party members; Propagating the directives and instructions of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Government "On continuing to promote and improve the quality and effectiveness of building and implementing grassroots democracy regulations"; Building and implementing the Inspection and Supervision Program for the entire term and annually.
At the same time, focus on research, forecasting the situation, opening political activities and organizing many conferences and seminars, especially the seminar on applying Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic ideology in implementing the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress; Online and in-person thematic seminars on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese Diplomatic Service; Summarizing 5 years of implementing Directive 05-CT/TW on "promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" with many meaningful source-returning activities, to review the glorious traditions of the nation and commemorate the life, dedication and great sacrifice of President Ho Chi Minh for the revolutionary cause of the Party; Actively implementing Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW of the 13th Politburo; consolidating and perfecting Steering Committee 35 on "Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views". Not only that, to grasp the aspirations of young people and young diplomatic officers, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and the leaders of the Ministry have had many direct dialogues with the Ministry's Youth Union to orient and inspire love for the industry and profession, adding motivation to inherit and promote the glorious tradition of Vietnam's revolutionary diplomacy.

| The Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a certificate of merit from the Party Committee of the bloc for the 2023 Political Contest to Protect the Party's Ideological Foundation. |
Over the past two years, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched and widely implemented the Political Contest to Protect the Party's Ideological Foundation throughout the Party Committee. In 2022, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Party Committee of the Central Agencies as a affiliated party organization that successfully implemented the Political Contest. In 2023, with the largest number of entries compared to other ministries and branches (613 entries), 2.5 times higher than in 2022 and for the first time with the participation of foreign friends, the Party Committee of the Central Agencies also awarded a Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievements in implementing Resolution 35-NQ/TW of the Politburo and a Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievements in implementing the Contest to Protect the Party's Ideological Foundation in 2023.
It can be seen that the Political Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation has become a widespread political activity in affiliated Party organizations, mass organizations, and associations of Vietnamese people abroad. From there, it has contributed to raising awareness and responsibility for cadres, Party members, and the masses, effectively preventing and repelling ideological degradation, erroneous and hostile viewpoints, distorted and toxic information, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation".
With the determination to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and deploy the Resolution of the 4th Central Committee (13th tenure) on strengthening Party building and rectification, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to link the task of Party building with the work of building the sector, promoting foreign affairs resources in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of Party work abroad and continuing to step firmly under the light of the Political Platform and Resolution of the Party, keeping the "roots strong" and "the branches evergreen", contributing to enhancing the foundation, potential, position and international prestige, striving for the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization".
