- The number of foreign cars imported to Vietnam for Tet has unexpectedly increased sharply.
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in October, the number of imported cars to Vietnam unexpectedly increased by nearly 30% compared to the previous month, equivalent to an increase of nearly 2,200 cars.
Accordingly, the number of imported cars this month reached more than 9,600 units with a value of nearly 255 million USD. Notably, cars with 9 seats or less increased quite strongly with about 8,220 vehicles, up 32.6% compared to the previous month. The strongest increase was in transport cars with more than 900 vehicles, equivalent to a value of nearly 40 million USD, up 47.2% in volume and 40.2% in value compared to the previous month (according to Tien Phong).

Viwaco has received a decision to impose a fine and collect tax arrears of more than VND 1.8 billion from the Hanoi Tax Department for administrative violations of tax. Viwaco is currently a subsidiary of Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Corporation (Vinaconex, stock code VCG) with VCG's ownership ratio at Viwaco being 51% of capital (according to Monetary Security).

Song Hong Garment Joint Stock Company (stock code: MSH) announced an interim cash dividend payment this year, at a rate of 25%. That is, shareholders owning 1 share will receive 2,500 VND.
The consolidated financial report for the third quarter of 2023 of this enterprise shows that the largest shareholder is Mr. Bui Duc Thinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Thinh owns more than 17.9 million MSH shares, equivalent to 23.91% of capital, as of September 30. Based on this number, Mr. Thinh may soon receive nearly 45 billion VND in dividends (according to Dan Tri).

Through reviewing tax management information, the tax authority found that some enterprises refunding export tax on cassava, wood, and forestry products had high tax risks. Through reviewing, inspecting, and checking tax refunds at 120 enterprises, it was discovered that 110 intermediary enterprises had abandoned their business locations, stopped operations, and were waiting for dissolution in the intermediary stage. The enterprises that refunded taxes used input materials, used purchase invoices from intermediary enterprises, the intermediary enterprises did not declare taxes, did not pay taxes, and could not prove the origin of the raw materials and purchased goods. The budget has not yet collected taxes from these enterprises, but must resolve tax refunds for tax refund enterprises at the next stage. (See more)

- Shrimp prices increase sharply again
