In the context of increasingly developing local economies, building and expanding the supply chain and consumption of regional products has become a strategic goal of many localities. In particular, Thanh Hoa has emerged as one of the pioneering localities in promoting this activity, aiming to exploit production potential to the fullest and create stable output for agricultural and handicraft products. This not only contributes to economic development, but also preserves and promotes the unique cultural values of each region.
The typical regional products of Van Hoa Agricultural Joint Stock Company, Nga Thuy Commune (Nga Son) are highly appreciated by many consumers.
In Thanh Hoa, the regional product supply chain is considered an important system to promote economic development in rural areas. However, in the past, product consumption in rural areas of Thanh Hoa encountered many difficulties due to the incomplete distribution system, products were easily congested or could not find stable outlets. Therefore, when the product supply chain is expanded, businesses and farmers have the opportunity to connect directly with larger markets, not only in the province but also in other provinces and cities. This not only helps increase product value but also minimizes risks for producers.
To achieve success in expanding the supply chain and product consumption, Thanh Hoa has focused on building reasonable support policies, from the provincial to the grassroots level. One of the important factors is the formation of cooperatives and small businesses in rural areas, helping to organize production and consumption in a more systematic and professional manner. Along with that, strong investment in transport infrastructure and technology; upgrading inter-village and inter-commune roads also helps transport goods easier and faster. The application of digital technology and e-commerce has also been focused on by the province, opening up many opportunities for the consumption of agricultural products through online channels. Bringing regional agricultural products to major e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, and Voso has helped farmers reach millions of consumers across the country. This is an important step in modernizing the supply chain, bringing clear benefits in terms of product consumption.
As a unit specializing in providing typical regional agricultural products such as cantaloupe, watermelon, baby cucumber, zucchini, honey, etc., Van Hoa Agricultural Joint Stock Company, Nga Thuy Commune (Nga Son) has attracted a large number of interested and highly appreciated consumers. The company has promoted through social networks to build new linkage and consumption chains. At the same time, it has researched and created many new processing and preservation methods to both diversify products and reduce the congestion of raw materials, suitable for the "pace" of small-scale consumption. Thanks to building and connecting suitable linkage chains, in the first 9 months of 2024, the company achieved a revenue of 2 billion VND, a profit of about 400 million VND, ensuring regular jobs for 6 workers, with an income of 5 million VND/person/month.
Thanks to synchronous policies and solutions, Thanh Hoa has achieved significant success in expanding the regional product supply chain. Many agricultural products have found stable outlets, prices have also become more stable, minimizing the situation of "good harvest, low price". Farmers have thus had the opportunity to improve their lives, expand production scale, and improve product quality. Typically, products such as Vinh Loc oranges or Quang Xuong pennywort have been widely consumed not only in the province but also in big cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. These products are not only available in traditional markets but also sold in large supermarket chains and convenience stores.
However, there are still many challenges that need to be overcome for the sustainable development of the supply chain in Thanh Hoa. One of the biggest challenges is the problem of preserving and transporting agricultural products. Due to the perishable nature, the lack of modern preservation technology is reducing the value and quality of products when they reach consumers. The connection between producers and distribution enterprises is still loose, leading to supply sometimes not meeting demand or vice versa. Another challenge is that many Thanh Hoa products, although of good quality, are still not competitive enough with similar products from other countries due to small-scale production and the failure to fully apply international standards on quality and food safety.
With the determination and efforts of both the government and the people, the expansion of the supply chain and consumption of regional products in Thanh Hoa not only contributes to the development of the local economy but also helps preserve and promote the unique cultural values of each region.
