I like Ha Anh Tuan's "big play"
* You have accompanied Ha Anh Tuan in the Sketch a rose concert in Australia and Singapore; this time in Ho Chi Minh City, is the pressure different?
- Musician Nguyen Huu Vuong: I don't feel pressured when working with Ha Anh Tuan or any other artist. I only feel pressured by myself, because I have been the music director for Ha Anh Tuan's live concerts for many years. After each success of a program, I put pressure on myself because I want the following live concerts to always be better and more successful than the previous one. The fact that Ha Anh Tuan's concerts always have a large audience makes me more excited and meticulous in my music.
Nguyen Huu Vuong is a musician - music producer behind the products and programs of many names in the Vietnamese music market.
* Can you reveal the special things in Sketch a rose in Ho Chi Minh City this time?
- There are many special things appearing at Sketch a rose in Ho Chi Minh City. The combination of Ha Anh Tuan and the guests is the highlight of the program. I invested a lot in the musical script or the arrangements, I remixed many songs in the concert. In addition, the appearance of Yiruma will also be a surprise for the audience, let's wait until the last minute to enjoy the music night more fully.
* This program features the participation of piano legend Yiruma (Korea). As the music director, can you share more about the staging and collaboration between Ha Anh Tuan and Yiruma?
- This is not the first time I have collaborated with world-famous artists. Each artist brings me a new experience in the way they work, I just try to help them feel most comfortable, so that they can fully develop their abilities when collaborating with the orchestra. From there, the audience can fully feel the emotions in the performances.

* To create the success of a music night bearing the personal mark of a star like Ha Anh Tuan, how does the music director create the right color of Ha Anh Tuan?
- As a music director for singers, I understand the strengths and weaknesses of each artist I will collaborate with and I have a way to calculate so that they can maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Ha Anh Tuan is a rare artist in Vietnam who has a solid grasp of song structure and rhythm, which allows us to freely create music. That is what always makes me feel excited every time I accept to collaborate with Ha Anh Tuan. I also really appreciate this from Ha Anh Tuan.
* How do you perceive Ha Anh Tuan, in music and in daily life?
- Ha Anh Tuan has his own musical direction, his own path, his own way of building his own image and I like Ha Anh Tuan's "big play". But more importantly, Ha Anh Tuan does not play big to show off to the media, but it is a playground for him to freely express his passion as well as create challenges for himself. On stage, Ha Anh Tuan is a meticulous, elegant artist, with the demeanor of a star; behind the stage lights, he is an approachable, lovable person. We often sit in coffee shops and chat about everyday stories.
Nguyen Huu Vuong said he likes Ha Anh Tuan's "big play".
The fierceness will push the artist
* As a young music director and producer, who has been behind the success of many famous faces in the Vietnamese music industry, do you feel that the competition in the Vietnamese music market is fierce?
- The Vietnamese music market is becoming more and more fierce, because music programs "produce" many artists; at the same time, it is an open market for young people to be able to show their full potential. We will see more new things in the musical personalities of young people, fierceness is something that should exist in any musical environment, because that will motivate the efforts of artists.
* Nowadays, there are many young and talented music producers emerging from a number of reality TV shows. Do you feel pressured when you are in that cycle?
- I don't think it's competition, but it's an environment for Vietnamese music to have new winds. People with many years in the profession like me will also need to learn from young people, to me that's positive. We should encourage each other, develop together to have a better musical life.
* What are your plans for your upcoming musical journey?
- I will continue to accompany artists in music products and programs. And who knows, I might have my own music project.
