At the end of the session on August 5, the VN-Index closed at 1,188, down 48.5 points, equivalent to 3.9%.

Faced with the unstable developments in the US and Asian stock markets, Vietnamese stock investors are somewhat uneasy. When trading opened on August 5, many people rushed to sell stocks.

The large decline in early morning trading, coupled with weak liquidity, showed that investors were actively withdrawing their money. Selling pressure continued to increase sharply in the afternoon session, causing market indices to fall even further.

The groups of stocks that negatively affected the market trend were banking, securities, steel, real estate, consumer goods, chemicals... The entire HoSE floor had 466 stocks in red, of which 96 stocks fell to the floor price.

In particular, the group of 30 large stocks (VN30) all decreased in price, such as GVR (-7%), VRE (-6.4%), HDB (-6.1%), SAB (-5.6%), TPB (-5.4%)...

This session, foreign investors "turned around" and net sold on the HoSE with a value of 730 billion VND. Specifically, foreign investors sold HPG (-231.8 billion VND), FPT (-88.9 billion VND), MWG (-80.7 billion VND), STB (-78.4 billion VND), SSI (-70.3 billion VND)...

At the end of the session, the VN-Index closed at 1,188, down 48.5 points, equivalent to a decrease of 3.9%. Liquidity on the HoSE increased sharply when more than 1 billion shares were successfully traded, equivalent to a value of more than VND23,700 billion.

Dragon Viet Securities Company (VDSC) commented that the increased liquidity compared to the previous session showed that the increased supply of shares overwhelmed the market.

VDSC forecasts that in the next session, the VN-Index may fall to 1,166 points. Therefore, investors need to be cautious and keep the stock ratio at a safe level.

Meanwhile, Vietcombank Securities Company (VCBS) said that when stock prices fall sharply, securities companies always require investors who have borrowed money to buy stocks to supplement their finances so that these units do not sell stocks to recover their loans. This will have a big impact on the market, helping the VN-Index to recover soon.

VCBS recommends that investors limit selling stocks during strong declines, review their portfolios, and wait for recovery sessions to consider gradually selling stocks with bad performance.
