On the afternoon of April 3, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Training, Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement on research and development of strategic technology associated with business cooperation.

The event marks an important step in enhancing the combined strength of Vietnam's three leading universities, promoting the potential and strengths of each side in talent training, scientific research, technology transfer, innovation and digital transformation.

The cooperation goal is to build the three universities into centers of excellence in training talented human resources, attracting talents, and conducting scientific research to serve the development of strategic technology and innovation fields, with close cooperation from businesses.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son emphasized that Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation is a very important Resolution for the system of higher education institutions in Vietnam.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, universities, and businesses at the cooperation signing ceremony on the afternoon of April 3.

"Vietnam's universities are not only scientific and technological organizations, but also places to train human resources for science and technology, for innovation, and national digital transformation. Universities are also places to apply science and technology, especially digital technology and artificial intelligence in innovating school management and innovating teaching and learning methods.

Universities also participate as training centers, developing digital capacity for people and for the "Digital Literacy for All" movement. The mission of universities is very important in successfully implementing Resolution 57" - the Deputy Minister of Education and Training affirmed.

Recently, the Central Steering Committee on Science, Technology, Innovation and National Digital Transformation has concluded and directed the Ministry of Education and Training to select at least 3 higher education institutions to build a research and development model for science and technology, connecting 3 parties: the state, schools and businesses. At the same time, research and develop artificial intelligence, solve the problem of administrative innovation in Party and State agencies, and apply it in different sectors and fields.

The strategic cooperation agreement of the three universities focuses on the following main contents: Cooperation in training high-quality, highly qualified human resources; Cooperation in researching core technologies, developing strategic technology products; Cooperation in building a shared database and resource system; Organizing conferences, seminars, developing cooperation and attracting international scholars.

Specifically, the three training institutions will coordinate to develop high-quality talent training programs, especially postgraduate training in key and cutting-edge fields, in the direction of jointly organizing training and researching to propose mechanisms so that graduates can receive degrees from all three universities.

The three universities will build strong interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research groups focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips, cybersecurity, blockchain, IoT, 5G/6G, energy, robotics and automation, digital technology, new materials, biotechnology, and quantum technology; invest in developing shared laboratories and prioritize upgrading research infrastructure; organize joint activities on scientific research, innovation, and startups.

Training institutions will apply digital transformation in education, develop smart training management systems, apply artificial intelligence in teaching and build a shared digital university model; develop a shared digital ecosystem, build a digital document database system and a plan to grant access to scientific databases.

The three universities will also coordinate to organize international scientific conferences, cooperate in developing international standard scientific journals and organize experience sharing workshops; cooperate in participating in international organizations and networks and attract international experts, scientists and lecturers.

This strategic cooperation agreement is effective for 5 years from the date of signing.
