Talking to Dan Viet reporter on the evening of March 16, Ms. Dinh Hai Nam (born in 1983) - who is renting a restaurant in Cho town, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province, reported the good news that she had found information about Ms. Nga - from Phu Tho - the person who lent her 8 taels of gold in 2004 to treat her first daughter's illness.

In recent days, social networks have been buzzing with the story of a mother named Dinh Hai Nam (born in 1983) - who rents a restaurant in Cho town, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province, hoping to find her benefactor named Nga (from Phu Tho) - who lent her 8 taels of gold in 2004 to treat her daughter's hemangioma.

This touching story quickly spread widely on social networks. Talking to Dan Viet reporters on the evening of March 16, Ms. Nam shared the good news that she had found information about the benefactor who lent her 8 taels of gold in 2004 to treat her first daughter's illness and was living in Hanoi. She was currently preparing to meet the benefactor she had been searching for for many years, hoping to meet again to see if she was well, how her life was, and to pay back the remaining 3 taels of gold.

Struggling alone to earn money to cure my child's illness, there were times when I was exhausted.

Previously, Dan Viet reporter directly met and talked with Ms. Dinh Hai Nam to verify the information she shared on social networks. "I confirm that this story is 100% true, there is no fiction, it's just that the time and location are sometimes blurred, but the story to borrow money and the characters are real" - Ms. Nam said and said that on March 14, she drove to Phu Tho province to find it but unfortunately the result was not as expected.

During the conversation that lasted nearly 2 hours, Ms. Dinh Hai Nam shed tears many times when talking about the process of taking her child to get treatment for hemangioma as well as her not-so-peaceful, happy family life, if not the "tragedy" of her life.

Born and raised in Yen Hau village, Hoa Tien commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province. In 2000, she married Le Van Dam - a native of An Ninh village, Yen Phu commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province. She had a difficult childhood, and when she got married, poverty and hardship still followed her.

Despite working hard at all kinds of jobs, her family's life was still difficult in many ways. "When I came back, my husband's family was very poor. At that time, my family had never been able to buy 2kg of rice" - Ms. Nam cried and shared about her "lonely" journey, earning money to cover daily expenses and saving up to treat her first daughter's illness.

Ms. Nam shared that the first time she discovered her child was sick was on April 30 and May 1, 2002. At that time, she took her child to her aunt's house in Hanoi to play. When she asked the groom to look after the child, he discovered that the child had a tumor on the shoulder blade and was weak, so he advised his niece to take the child to the hospital for examination. When she took the child to the hospital, she discovered that the child had a hemangioma.

"At that time, my family was poor and I didn't have enough money to treat my child, so I had to bring him home. Every month, I took him out for injections and IVs for about 2 days and then went home," said Ms. Nam. She said that when she found out her child was seriously ill, she did all kinds of jobs, from selling cabbage in the morning to working as a sander in Dong Ky craft village (Tu Son city), then in craft villages in Dong Anh district, Hanoi city.

When she had saved about 2 million VND, she decided to take her child to the hospital for treatment. That small amount of money was not enough for the mother and child to live and receive treatment in Hanoi.

At the same time, Ms. Nga (born in 1980), a Phu Tho native who went to Hanoi to work as a tailor, also went to the hospital to treat a uterine tumor. Seeing Ms. Nam's difficult situation, having to leave her child with a roommate in the hospital to look after every day, while she herself was busy selling bread and working as a waiter for restaurants, Ms. Nga asked Ms. Nam to quit her part-time job to go back to her hometown with her to lend her 8 taels of gold to treat her child.

"During the surgery, because my child was in the hospital for so long, I borrowed from everyone, not just from Ms. Nga, to save my child. Many radio stations and newspapers said that Ms. Nga's money was enough to save my child, which was partly true. I also had to rely on my friends. At that time, I also borrowed money from the security guard. When I shared, he lent me 200,000 VND and the street sweeper also lent me 50,000 VND..." - Ms. Nam informed.

When she started working and had money, she paid off her debt, but with Ms. Nga - her close sister who lent her 8 taels of gold, every time she took her child to the hospital for treatment, she would bring home-made rice to give to her and gradually pay back 5 taels of gold, still owing 3 taels of gold. Due to losing contact, Ms. Nam searched for her benefactor for many years to pay off her debt but could not find her. This always made her feel uneasy.

"In fact, I still have debt, debt to the bank and debt to friends for my business, but it's not as worrying as it is with you. If I saw you every day or knew where you were, I would be very reassured, but now I've been missing for years, not knowing where you are" - Ms. Nam said and said that if she had the chance to meet again, she would recognize her benefactor immediately because of her smile and the way she talks, often hitting her on the head and always saying: "You're so stupid".

According to Ms. Nam, her daughter still has scars from treatment and she herself had to go through many years of illness: "When she recovered, she was around 8-9 years old. When she was in first and second grade, the teachers often had to get used to her carrying a bottle of medicine to take with her. Sometimes when she was studying, everyone would call me to go home, she couldn't see anymore, or if she was sick in class, I would have to run home."

Her daughter is now married and has two children. Like her mother, the daughter always wants to find the benefactor who helped and supported her and her daughter during difficult times. Miraculously, at around 5 p.m. on March 16, Ms. Nam received a phone call from the benefactor who lent her 8 taels of gold 21 years ago, who is currently living in Hanoi. "I am preparing to go to Hanoi to meet my benefactor again," said Ms. Nam.

Neighbors, close friends: "Hai Nam sold blood many times to get money to treat his child's illness"

To find out more information, Dan Viet reporter met Mr. To Van Huong and Mrs. Dao Thi Hoi, both born in 1954 in An Ninh village, Yen Phu commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province. They are neighbors, living across a wall from Ms. Nam's husband's house.

Hearing the story of Ms. Nam looking for a benefactor to lend her 8 taels of gold to pay off her debt, Ms. Dao Thi Hoi sadly shared: "Too bad, to cure her child's illness, Hai Nam had to sell her blood many times". Ms. Phuong - a close friend of Ms. Dang Hai Nam in Duc Lan village, Yen Phu commune also shared that Ms. Nam had sold her blood many times to get money to cure her child's illness.

"Hai Nam has a hard life, but every year during Tet he still visits, wishes his grandparents a happy new year, and gives them gifts and medicine," said Mrs. Hoi, sharing that in her previous family life, she had to endure many hardships, especially beatings from her husband.

Talking to Dan Viet reporter, Mr. Nghiem Van Ke (born in 1980) - a construction supervisor in Duc Lan village, Yen Phu commune - the same age as Mr. Le Van Dam - Ms. Nam's husband and hired the couple as workers and masons, said that Hai Nam is a hard-working person, almost taking care of all the family work by himself.

Mother in Bac Ninh posted a fake book looking for a benefactor to lend her 8 taels of gold after 21 years

Previously, on March 13, Ms. Hai Nam posted on her personal Facebook page to find a benefactor who lent her 8 taels of 9999 gold in 2004 to treat her first daughter's hemangioma. Ms. Nam's story was immediately reported by many social networking sites in Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Hanoi...

According to Ms. Nam, in March 2004, her daughter was hospitalized for the second time due to a hemangioma. At that time, she met Ms. Nga (born in 1980, from Phu Tho province) and was helped by her, who lent her 8 taels of 9999 gold.

According to Ms. Nam, at that time, Ms. Nga took Ms. Nam from the National Children's Hospital (Hanoi) to Phu Tho to get the gold.

"My sister kept her gold in a brown wooden box shaped like a toad. Her family lived across a river, she was an ethnic minority. Her garden was large, with lots of corn. She said she had three sisters, and had cassava cakes and salted cassava leaves stewed with fish. Her family had a flower garden in front of the house. She said her grandfather was the head of the family," the story was shared by Ms. Hai Nam on her personal Facebook.

According to Nam's recollection, Nga lived in a stilt house area. To get there, you had to take a train, the last station was near a military barracks.

"From 2003 to 2005, every time I discharged my child from the hospital, I paid my sister one tael of gold. At that time, she lived alone in Cau Giay. In 2006, she came to visit me once in Bac Ninh. I knew she came back to collect the debt, but because I was so poor and my child was still in the hospital, she bought me a bag of rice, two bags of instant noodles, and a little meat. After eating with me, she left again.

Since 2008, I lost contact with you. Every year I ask someone to inquire about your news. In 2009, I went back to Phu Tho for two days, in 2015 I went back for two and a half days but could not find you," Ms. Nam wrote on her personal Facebook page.

This woman asked the online community to share her story to help her find her benefactor because "I still have 3 more taels of gold that I haven't been able to return to you yet". Along with that, Ms. Nam posted a photo that was said to be taken with Ms. Nga (in white shirt) on April 30, 2004 in Hanoi.
