The two children Nguyen Kieu TM (7 years old) and Le Hoang TL (3 years old, commonly known as Gao) were brought back by the police to reunite with their mother, Nguyen Thi Chi (27 years old, from Phu Yen) on April 8. Tuoi Tre Online met with the candy seller at her rented room on Tran Xuan Soan Street (District 7).
Focus on finding the child, ignore the gossip
Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Chi said that in the past few days, she has been feeling uneasy and worried about the safety of her two children. For Ms. Chi, those were very long days. During these days, she called and asked for help from many people around her but could not find any trace of her children.
"When I was informed that the two children had been found, I was so happy. I didn't know what else to do other than thank the authorities and the media for their support. Just having my two children safe was enough," Chi said, choking up.
Also during the past time, the 27-year-old woman said she faced rumors. In that situation, Ms. Chi said she only focused on finding her child and ignored the rumors.
"They said I was in debt and sold my child, said I borrowed a lot and then they took my child, and even said I was just asking for likes. I just said no. I ignored it all and focused on finding my child," Chi recalled with a sob.
Holding her two children in her arms, Chi smiled happily. She said: "Now that my children are safe, that is my greatest joy. I also avoid gossip from people around me."
Thanks to authorities and media
Ms. Tu (63 years old) - Ms. Chi's mother - came from Phu Yen to Ho Chi Minh City to sell lottery tickets on the street with two disabled legs. Ms. Tu said that when she heard the news, she was very scared.
She lost sleep and appetite looking for her grandchild, feeling heartbroken but not daring to tell anyone around her. Even when asking the dealership to stop selling for a few days, Mrs. Tu only dared to say she was going to see a doctor.
"I'm glad that you're back safely. I couldn't sleep for days, I just lay there praying, blaming myself for not being able to raise you. Tonight, my child and I can sleep well," Mrs. Tu said with a smile.
For Ms. Nguyen Thi Chi, even though she has found her children, she is still afraid and haunted. In the near future, Ms. Chi plans to send all four children to live with their grandmother in the countryside.
"The older child is 7 years old and is going to school, but the family is too poor so he dropped out. I plan to send all the children to their grandparents' house in the countryside for more convenient study. I will stay here and work to send money to raise the children," said Chi.
She sent her thanks to the authorities and the person who took her to find her child. She also thanked Tuoi Tre Online for supporting her in providing information to find her child.
