Walking dogs, parking illegally, and teasing statues ruin the image of Nguyen Hue walking street.

I was really surprised by the reckless behavior of 'hitting the security guard's head because he was told not to bring his dog into Nguyen Hue walking street'. Can we keep the walking street civilized, not park our cars haphazardly, and not bring our dogs in?

The incident happened on February 27 when a security guard named C. (58 years old) discovered a young man and a girl stopping their motorbike on Nguyen Hue Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), entering the park area with an unmuzzled dog.

The two sides argued and the young man grabbed the metal bar and hit Mr. C. hard in the head, causing him to bleed and lose consciousness.

Walking street has no entry sign but many people still ignore it

It is worth mentioning that Nguyen Hue walking street has a regulation sign prohibiting pets from being walked or released, but some people still bring their pets in despite the regulations.

Last night (February 26), I had an appointment with friends on this street after several months of not being there, but I still saw the familiar scene of security guards working hard to keep the walking street in order.

Walking from Bach Dang wharf, I observed that the crowd pouring into the walking street was still as crowded as usual.

On both sides of the street, many people still pull over their motorbikes to sit and enjoy the cool breeze, wait for friends or leave their motorbikes there and walk into the street.

Therefore, security guards have to constantly go back and forth, blowing their whistles, reminding people not to park their vehicles. Although there are motorbike parking spots, I don’t understand why many people don’t park their vehicles, but park right in the prohibited areas and even call out to each other.

When I saw the security guard constantly blowing his horn and giving reminders, I thought if only those parkers were more aware, there wouldn't be so many honks.

This is both tiring for the security guards and disturbing the street with the constant noise.

poke the statue's hip for fun

Not only that, on the walking street there are also young people making statues. They stand motionless in the pose of a statue for hours, it is a form of art.

Others just stood a few meters away to look, take pictures, or put some money on the pedestal at the foot of the statue after taking pictures. But someone poked the side of one statue several times and laughed heartily, pointing. The statues still tried to stand still and endure the pain.

Some people touched the statue's clothes, or stood and took pictures leaning against the statue. Some people commented, curiously "what is that painted on your body", "why are you standing like that"...

Also on the evening of February 26, I saw two young people leading a shaggy dog into the pedestrian area. The dog was not muzzled and was sniffing and growling, scaring those standing nearby.

Some other actions such as arbitrarily crossing the street in the wrong area for pedestrians also contribute to the bad image of the walking street.

Of course, there are many tourists and locals who come to the walking street and behave gently and politely, and the above unpleasant things are just a few.

Hopefully in such a civilized and modern space there will be no more chaos and lack of awareness, so that the warning sirens will not have to sound so much anymore.
