In the 2023 Southern fishing season, fishermen in coastal localities of Ha Tinh caught about 22,577 tons of various types of seafood, estimated to be worth 1,106 billion VND.
The 2023 Southern fishing season takes place from April to September, and is one of the main fishing seasons for Ha Tinh fishermen. According to records, this year's Southern fishing season, apart from 4 storms and low pressure periods that directly affected fishing activities at sea, the remaining time the weather was relatively favorable, creating favorable conditions for fishermen in localities in the province to take advantage of going offshore to stick to the sea.
Ha Tinh fishermen strive to stay at sea and catch seafood.
According to the Ha Tinh Fisheries Sub-Department, the output of the Southern fish crop in 2023 in the whole province is estimated at 22,577 tons, worth about 1,106 billion VND, reaching 102.83% compared to the same period in the Southern fish crop in 2022.
Of which, the output that boat owners exploited from the sea was 20,154 tons (including: 13,267 tons of fish, 398 tons of shrimp and 6,489 tons of other aquatic products) and the inland exploitation output was 2,423 tons (including 1,325 tons of fish, 167 tons of shrimp and 931 tons of other aquatic products).
Popular seafood species include: pelagic fish, shrimp, mollusks and squid... This is a source of encouragement for fishermen to go offshore to fish and increase their income.
Authorities educate fishermen about combating illegal fishing.
In the coming time, the specialized sector will continue to monitor developments in fishing grounds, aquatic resources, weather and climate conditions, to advise and direct localities in the province to guide fishermen in organizing effective aquatic exploitation in conjunction with protecting aquatic resources.
At the same time, study, research and apply a number of aquaculture production models with high economic efficiency, focusing on exploiting pelagic fish species and expanding fishing grounds.
