Binh Dinh fishermen hold burial ceremony for whale washed ashore

On the morning of February 8, people in Lo Dieu village (Hoai My commune, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province) discovered a whale carcass washed ashore. People set up an altar and buried it according to local customs.

According to folk beliefs, the whale is the guardian deity of fishermen, protecting and keeping them safe at sea, especially when encountering big waves and strong winds...
