Within the framework of the second Vietnam - Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange program, the delegations of the two countries' Ministries of Defense attended the inauguration ceremony of the Long Sap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities in Moc Chau District, Son La Province - a border school filled with warm Vietnam - Laos affection.
The Vietnamese delegation was led by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense. The Lao delegation was led by General Chansamone Chanyalath, Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of National Defense.
On the occasion of the 2nd Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense invested in and built the project “Classroom Area of Long Sap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities”. This is a classroom area built with advanced technology and fully equipped with facilities and equipment for both students and teachers.
General Phan Van Giang and General Chansamone Chanyalath and delegations from the two countries attended the inauguration ceremony of the classroom building of Long Sap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
This is also a project of special significance, providing a high-quality learning environment, creating favorable conditions for students to develop comprehensively in knowledge and skills, contributing to improving people's knowledge and creating human resources for the locality and the country.
The road leading to Long Sap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities was brightly decorated with flags and flowers on the inauguration day. Many people in the border commune of Long Sap wore their most beautiful national costumes with pride to welcome the high-ranking delegation of the armies of Vietnam and Laos to visit and inaugurate the school's classroom building.
Teacher Trinh Thi Minh Hang and students of Long Sap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities on the happy day welcoming the delegation
Teacher Trinh Thi Minh Hang - Literature teacher of the school - happily said: "I have worked at the school since 2009, up to now it has been 15 years, only 1 year left until retirement. I am very lucky to attend a special event, full of pride for the two countries Vietnam - Laos like today at a school in the border area, but still receives great attention from the Party and State".
Since I started teaching at this border school, I have seen that the relationship between the two localities bordering Vietnam and Laos is very close and has been close for a long time. Our school also regularly organizes competitions to learn about the culture, traditional customs, and the relationship between Vietnam and Laos. We also teach students to dance and sing many Lao songs so that they can have the opportunity to exchange with schools in the neighboring country.
Mrs. Lo Thi Thai and her husband, Mr. Vi Van O, happily attended the welcoming ceremony for the delegation of Vietnam and Laos.
Seeing the camera lens pointed at her, Mrs. Lo Thi Thai, 66 years old in Long Sap commune, hurriedly pulled her husband closer to her to smile and take a photo together. Mrs. Thai emotionally shared: “My husband and I are in our twilight years, so we have been nervous and waiting for several days to be here. We always support the connection of the two border communes. On holidays and Tet, people from the two border communes of Vietnam and Laos still visit each other, congratulate and share joy with each other. Many times when I go to other countries, I see that their lives are more difficult than mine, so we share ways to grow vegetables, raise livestock, and encourage them to develop their family economy to rise up in life.”
Sharing the joy with the local people, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Binh - a primary school teacher at the school - excitedly said: "In more than 16 years of teaching at the school, my class often has Lao students coming to study. They are students whose father or mother is Lao, and they are a mix of two languages: Lao and Vietnamese, so they can study normally. Teachers and students at the school do not discriminate against Lao students, they are all sociable, happy, and encourage each other to make efforts in their studies."
Teacher Tran Thi Thanh Binh, a primary school teacher at the school, has taught Lao students for many years and taught them to sing and dance songs about the Lao people to communicate with the people of Laos.
Also on this occasion, on the morning of October 23, the delegations of Vietnam and Laos visited and presented gifts to Pahang Primary and Secondary School, Sop Bao District (Houaphanh Province, Laos).
Houaphanh province in general and Sop Bao district in particular are lands rich in revolutionary heroic traditions, intelligence, resilience in combat, diligence, creativity in production, tolerance, and humanity in community life. It is also on this land that the armies and people of Vietnam and Laos have stood side by side in the fight against colonialism and imperialism, for national independence, freedom, and happiness for the people of each country.
General Phan Van Giang awarded scholarships to disadvantaged students at Pahang Primary and Secondary School, Sop Bao District (Houaphanh Province, Laos).
“We believe that, in any circumstances, teachers will be brave ferrymen, not afraid of difficulties, nurturing dreams and lighting the fire of knowledge for students at the warm and affectionate Pahang border school. We hope that students will always try to study and practice, contribute to building the country and become a bridge for the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
This is also the highest aspiration of generations of senior leaders of the two countries, local authorities and delegations of the two countries present here today," General Phan Van Giang emphasized.
