TPO - University admissions experts predict that Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation will impact the interest of parents and students in science, technology and innovation.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, presented two contents that will have an impact on the 2025 admission season of universities, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
Candidates begin to learn about university admission information in 2025. |
The first is the adjustments in the 2025 Admission Regulations that will be issued by the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to Mr. Hai, in the draft regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that universities cannot spend more than 20% on early admission methods - talent admission (methods that do not use high school graduation exam results), this is the ratio that Hanoi University of Science and Technology has implemented for many years.
Regarding the regulation of converting scores of methods to a common scale, Mr. Hai said that this is an option that will create many benefits for candidates and society. The standard score of each training program of schools under Hanoi University of Science and Technology will have a common scale. Schools will have to calculate and analyze data from previous years of enrollment to come up with the most accurate and fairest conversion coefficient for candidates.
In fact, with the conversion of the score scale according to the Draft Regulations on University Admissions 2025 of the Ministry of Education and Training, lower-ranking schools will not encounter difficulties because admission is mainly based on high school transcripts + high school exam scores - two methods with a fairly high correlation ratio, so the conversion between high school exam scores and transcripts is quite similar.
But the top schools - schools with diverse admission methods such as using international certificates/using their own exams - are facing difficulties. At that time, the top schools need to carefully consider converting to the same high school transcript and high school scores. The Ministry of Education and Training's regulations on early admission only affect the time of announcing admission results to candidates, but in essence, nothing has changed.
Previously, candidates could know the results from March, April, May, but with the new regulation, candidates can only know the results after the national virtual filtering system announces them, usually in August. Thus, candidates are not affected in using the admission results, only the time to know the results is different.
However, the announcement of the results of the virtual filtering methods greatly affects the lower-ranking schools. Because the schools will have to compete fiercely when candidates are able to register for all schools in the system according to the admission principles, they can be admitted to most of the top schools. Therefore, the lower-ranking schools will have fewer candidates, which will affect the enrollment scale of the schools.
Regarding the birth of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, Mr. Hai predicted that science, technology and innovation sectors will receive the attention of many parents and students. In previous years, students studying social sciences, technical sciences and natural sciences had a difference of 70% - 30%.
This year, Mr. Hai predicts that the number of candidates choosing to study science and technology will increase, meaning that they will accept competition for admission, especially in fields related to digital transformation, semiconductors or artificial intelligence.
