On December 18, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution A/RES/62/139 designating April 2 every year (starting from 2008) as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) to encourage member states to take action to raise awareness of people with autism spectrum disorders; promote research to find new methods to improve the health and integration of people with this syndrome.
According to the latest research in March 2022 by the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that 1 in 100 children worldwide have autism spectrum disorder. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impairs communication skills, speech, and the development of social relationships.
At the same time, autistic children have problems with behavior, interests, and rigid, stereotyped habits. Autistic children have many difficulties in integrating with the world around them.
Autism is a disorder, not a disease, and is not contagious. Therefore, understanding autism correctly will help us detect and intervene early, helping children not miss the "Golden Time" - that is, intervention before the age of 3, limiting stigma and pressure on children and their families, thereby improving their quality of life.
