
Recently, high school students from schools in Hoi An City participated in the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2024. The contest was organized by the Center for Culture, Information and Communication in coordination with the Hoi An City Youth Union, as part of a series of activities in response to the 3rd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day - 2024 in Hoi An.
At the contest, students participate in storytelling, presenting or reenacting the content of a story or their favorite character in a good, age-appropriate work that they have read, combining storytelling and presentation with music and animation.
Through that, 10 good works of domestic and foreign authors and meaningful stories were introduced to readers. This is also an interesting playground for students and at the same time contributes to building habits and promoting the movement of reading, self-study and self-research for students.
Huynh Nguyen Tuong Vi, a student at Tran Quy Cap High School, Hoi An City, said: “I am very happy to participate in this contest because I get to meet and interact with students in the city. On this occasion, I would like to introduce the work “Rainbow Warrior” by author Andrea Hirata with the message that always striving, the desire to learn and education will bring happiness and be the path to success.”

Activities in response to the 3rd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day - 2024 in Hoi An will take place until April 25, with the book fair lasting until April 28.
Notable activities include displaying publications and introducing books; the contest "Ambassador of Reading Culture 2024"; introducing authors and works; promoting books, introducing libraries and awarding library cards; the 13th book fair; the activity "Learning about relics through book pages", drawing pictures based on books.
In addition, Hoi An City Culture, Information and Communication Center also coordinated to open a space for reading and exchanging books with the message "Good books need readers" in Cam Pho ward and built a "Community bookshelf" in Xuan My block, Tan An ward.
According to the plan, in 2024, Hoi An City Center for Culture, Information and Communication will also organize book donation, launch a movement to contribute books to build community bookcases and green libraries; build love bookcases; coordinate and support units, schools and localities to organize activities in many suitable forms.
“This year, activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day focus on innovating content and form, increasing interaction as well as inspiring readers to actively participate in activities organized by the city, creating a useful and interesting playground for children.
Through that, we hope to spread and develop reading culture in the community, tourists and children" - Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Cam - Director of Hoi An City Culture, Information and Communication Center said.
