The movement "Two thousand dong a day for education" was launched by Nam Po district from November 21, 2022. After nearly 2 years of implementation, the movement has attracted many cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, armed forces and people to participate with thousands of piggy banks.
All proceeds from the movement are received by the district and used to support schools, teachers and students in difficult circumstances. Money from the savings fund is also used to supplement and improve school facilities.
During the first year of the “piggy bank” festival from this movement (September 5, 2023), Nam Po district collected 1.3 billion VND from more than 1,000 piggy banks. From the above amount, the district's education promotion association used more than 1 billion VND in combination with socialized sources to build and repair 2 dining rooms, 23 bathrooms, 58 toilets, 4 libraries, 2 offices, and 1 garage. In addition, the district also built and repaired many playgrounds, fences, wells, and embankments at schools in the area.
In the 2023-2024 school year, Nam Po district continued to implement the movement and received the support and response of more than 2,400 cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, armed forces officers and soldiers and people with more than 1,300 piggy banks raised.
Mr. Le Khanh Hoa, Secretary of Nam Po District Party Committee, said that the movement aims to spread compassion and create social consensus in the socialization of education, contributing to improving school facilities and supporting students in their studies.
It can be seen that, regardless of the form, this savings still has the same purpose of contributing to educating the spirit of thrift, mutual love, and sharing of all levels and sectors with the difficulties of the education sector to contribute to the implementation of social security goals and the socialization of education. Each piggy bank is the heart of individuals, sectors and organizations for the Nam Po Education sector.
Mr. Le Khanh Hoa said that Nam Po is a poor border district, where the learning and living conditions of students and teachers are still difficult and lacking. The District Party Committee and People's Committee have built and launched the movement "Save 2,000 VND per day for Education", calling on cadres, civil servants, public employees, armed forces and families to "raise" a piggy bank, saving at least 2,000 VND per day to support the district's education and training sector.
