Ha Giang is a land with a long cultural history, a convergence of 19 ethnic groups with many ethnic minorities living. Each ethnic group brings to Ha Giang a unique culture. Among them, the Mong, Dao and Tay ethnic groups stand out.
It is known that in Ha Giang, the Mong ethnic group is the majority with two main groups: White Mong and Flower Mong. This is also one of the ethnic groups whose culture is less eroded. The Mong people here adapt to life on high mountain ranges from 800m to 1,700m above sea level, so they are very famous for their tradition of rock farming, rice and corn cultivation. They are also very good at weaving, woodworking, and linen weaving, creating beautiful and unique traditional costumes. 
Closely associated with their lives is the art of the Khen dance. The Mong people often dance the Khen on cultural occasions, funerals, death anniversaries or when there are festivals. One of their most important festivals is the Gau Tao Festival - praying for blessings. Traveling to Ha Giang to Meo Vac, visitors can enjoy this unique Khen dance at the markets, especially at the Khau Vai love market.
Unlike the Mong, the Dao people have the habit of living near water sources. Therefore, they live mainly on the mountainside, mainly by farming on terraced fields with foods such as rice, corn, potatoes, cassava, buckwheat, etc. In addition, the Dao people's beeswax embroidery and printing on fabric is also extremely famous. The Dao people's culture is also quite complex because it includes many different groups, clearly expressed through community spirituality, superstition, life concepts and rituals as well as in folk culture. The festival considered the most unique of the Dao people is the Cap Sac ceremony for men. Traveling to Ha Giang in the last months of the year (November, December or January), visitors will have the opportunity to participate in this festival and witness many unique and special features of the Dao people's culture.
One of the characteristics that creates a distinct and distinct cultural identity of the Tay people is the art of singing Then and playing Tinh lute, which are often used in rituals to pray for crops, peace, and official titles. The Tay people still preserve unique traditional cultural values expressed through traditional festivals and a treasure trove of literature about myths, folk tales, poems, folk songs, etc. or in customs, practices, and daily living habits. In addition to slash-and-burn farming, the Tay people's weaving profession is also quite developed, especially brocade scarves with rich patterns that are loved by many people.
Many tourists who experience the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Ha Giang really like the Moon Festival of the Tay ethnic group which takes place during the Mid-Autumn Festival every year.
