Improve the movement
Mr. Le Thanh Tri, Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Front Committee of Tan Hung Hamlet, Nga Sau Town, shared: “In the recent evaluation, the hamlet maintained its cultural title, 347/350 households achieved the title of cultural family. People are aware of not only focusing on building and maintaining the cultural title in the family, working with the locality to improve the landscape and environment, but also showing a sense of responsibility in each evaluation of the title. We have to prepare very carefully, give detailed instructions, hold public and serious meetings to evaluate one step ahead. Households that violate the criteria and do not achieve the title are carefully considered, so that each recognized title must convince the people, so that they agree and are unified.”
Chau Thanh district has 6 communes and towns that meet the standards of new rural culture and urban civilization. In the recent evaluation of the title of cultural families, hamlets and cultural areas, the whole district has 22,758/23,211 meeting the standards of cultural families, accounting for over 98%, 58/58 hamlets and cultural areas, accounting for 100%. This is the effort of the sectors and levels, the participation of the locality and the efforts, joint efforts, and shared responsibility of the people.
Mr. Dang Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chau Thanh district, said: “The evaluation of cultural titles in residential areas is very important, demonstrating the achievements of the collective, especially the active participation of the people. In addition to guiding the locality to grasp the criteria to disseminate to the people from the beginning of the year, so that they can register for implementation, during the evaluation process, we also closely monitor to provide timely guidance, focus on improving the quality, bringing the movement into reality, creating consensus and unanimity”.
People's lives are improved
Chau Thanh district currently has more than 2.5% poor households, with about 609 households, and 348 near-poor households, accounting for 1.48%. According to the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, each year, the district says goodbye to 1% or more of poor households. In this year's review and assessment, this number will continue to decrease.
This is one of the practical results, demonstrating the attention of the Party Committee and the government, the drastic participation of relevant sectors, levels and localities, and the joint efforts and determination to change and improve the quality of people's lives.
To support the poor and people in difficult circumstances, in addition to creating many favorable conditions, the District Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs launched the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" for the period 2021-2025, with annual reviews and evaluations.
Since the beginning of the year, the department has coordinated to build 30 solidarity houses, creating conditions for people to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank branch in the district for 529 poor households, 292 near-poor households with a total amount of over 13 billion VND. Building 3 poverty reduction models; creating new jobs for 1,350 people, supporting self-employment on the spot for 1,082 people.
Also contributing to the poverty reduction work in the locality is the participation of associations and organizations. Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Chan, President of the Women's Union of Chau Thanh district, informed: This year, the association registered 116 households to escape poverty, from which there was a support method by coordinating with the Social Policy Bank branch in the district to support 56 member households with capital of nearly 200 million VND. The association implemented the program "Livelihood support - sustainable development" for 46 women with an amount of 135 million VND, to buy and sell small businesses, seedlings, carts to sell bread, porridge, sticky rice, lottery tickets... The association also coordinated with the agricultural sector to provide technical advice in livestock and crop farming and supported 6,000 eel breeds, creating conditions for women to do business, stabilize their lives, and escape poverty sustainably.
With the participation of sectors and levels and the efforts of the people, the poverty reduction work of the district has achieved and exceeded the target set by the resolution, which is to reduce at least 1% of poor households each year.
Chau Thanh is increasingly improving its rural transport system, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and trade conveniently. The locality is also oriented by the province to become an urban-industrial center by 2025. From there, there will be synchronous investment, from infrastructure to improving the operational efficiency of industrial parks and clusters, associated with the urbanization process of the locality. This will open up new bright spots, people will have more conditions and opportunities to improve their quality of life.
