Of the six disputes at the WTO, three were initiated by the US and the remaining three were initiated by India.
The disputes involve policies on solar cells and solar modules, the renewable energy sector, and steel and aluminum products.
India also agreed to lift tariffs on some US products such as chickpeas, lentils and almonds, the US Trade Representative’s Office (USTR) added. The tariffs imposed by New Delhi on US goods were in response to US tariffs on steel and aluminum.
USTR emphasized that the tax cut program will restore and expand market access opportunities for American manufacturers and farmers.
The USTR announcement came during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States.
