Heavy rain at night, some places flooded, landslides

Heavy rains in many places in the province also caused the Red River to rise through Lao Cai city, gradually flooding alluvial plains and islands. In addition, some areas were also flooded and eroded.

The water level of the Red River at 7:00 a.m. on October 1 was 80.04 m, 0.04 m above alert level 1. Localized heavy rains caused localized flooding in some areas; affecting and damaging people's housing, agricultural production, and infrastructure.

In Quang Kim commune, heavy and continuous rain during the night of September 30 and early morning of October 1 caused the water level of Ngoi San stream to rise.

At about 2:00 a.m. the same day, water flooded the fields of Lang Kim village and residential areas of Lang Quang village, Dong Quang.

By 3:00 a.m. on October 1, more than 40 houses in Lang Quang and Dong Quang villages were flooded with 30-40 cm of water.

Regarding traffic, the rescue road from Trinh Tuong to Y Ty (section from Na Lac village, Tung Chin, Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district) has just been temporarily repaired after storm No. 3; however, due to heavy rain, it continued to be washed away by floods, causing landslides and erosion in many sections, and currently vehicles cannot pass through.

Provincial Road 155, Muong Hum Commune (Bat Xat District) has a landslide, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

Coc My commune suffered a landslide on the Nam Chon road to Ta Cau Lieng, Seo Phin Than and Din Peng, about 1,000m3 . A temporary underground embankment was built to go to Nam Chon village.

Previously, the Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station also warned that soil moisture models showed that some areas in the districts of Bat Xat, Bao Thang, Van Ban, Bao Yen, Bac Ha, Simacai and Lao Cai city, Sa Pa town were nearly saturated (over 80%), some communes in the districts had reached saturation.

Therefore, there will be a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams in mountainous areas; landslides on steep slopes, land subsidence in the districts of Bac Ha, Muong Khuong, Simacai, Bao Yen, Van Ban, Bat Xat, Bao Thang and Lao Cai city, Sa Pa town.
