Through the photo series "Buffalo Wool" by author Dinh Ngoc Bao, you will understand that the buffalo wool season is when the flood season comes, the surrounding grass gradually decreases, so farmers take their buffalo herds across the flooded fields, looking for high ground with remaining green grass. This is the place for buffalo herds to migrate during the flood season. The photo series was submitted by the author to the Happy Vietnam Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications. 
The buffalo wool season is a very special natural picture of the flood season in the Southwest. That is also the time when buffalo herds begin to “migrate” along the Southwest border, looking for fields that have not been flooded to take shelter. People and buffaloes keep going from one flooded field to another, until the water recedes and dries up before returning. The buffalo wool season also has no fixed time, but depends on the annual flood. 
This herd of buffalo has up to five or seven small herds, which join together to make it easier to manage and help each other. 
The full moon tide of the 10th lunar month causes the water level in the upper Mekong River to rise rapidly. Several fields along the southwestern border are covered in silver water. 
The green grass fields become a lifeline for the migrating buffalo herd. When the flood season comes, the buffalo must be taken to the fields. The owner loves his loyal animal, which works hard all year round plowing the fields and pulling carts, so he cannot let it starve during the flood season due to lack of green grass. 
Buffalo wool is also the farmer's gratitude to the loyal animal that works hard all year round to help them grow rice. 
Buffalo wool season is a great migration of people and buffaloes to find life, facing the harshness of nature. 
In the distance, a herd of buffaloes is crossing the flooded fields to return home. The buffalo herding season is a picture of the countryside of the Southwest during the flood season. Images that seemed to only exist in memories, long ago, now appear right before our eyes.Vietnam.vn
