Coach Ruben Amorim wants to reunite with Gyokeres. |
MEN claim that coach Ruben Amorim, who helped Gyokeres reach his full potential in Lisbon, has made it a priority to bring the Swedish striker to Old Trafford in the summer of 2025. The “Red Devils” need a top striker, something they have lacked for more than a decade, despite huge investments in contracts such as Romelu Lukaku or Antony.
Initially, there was information that Gyokeres refused an invitation from Manchester United, but in the current context, only the "Red Devils" are willing to pay the player's contract termination fee (75 million euros) effective from June.
Interest from Barcelona and Arsenal was once a factor influencing MU to recruit Gyokeres. However, over time, both Barcelona and Arsenal showed indifference to this deal.
Barcelona are in financial trouble and will struggle to spend big this summer. La Liga's refusal to recognise revenue from the sale of VIP stands at the new Camp Nou has left the club in a difficult position. With cash running low and wages over their limit, Barca will continue to struggle in the transfer market.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arteta seems to prefer strikers like Isak and Sesko over Gyokeres. The Gunners believe that Gyokeres, who turns 27 in June, is not a wise long-term investment.
In that context, Manchester United will likely make a decisive move to quickly complete the signing of the Sporting CP striker before the end of this season.
Gyokeres is having a breakout season in terms of personal achievements, scoring 43 goals and providing 11 assists in 43 appearances for Sporting CP. On the morning of April 4, Gyokeres scored in Sporting's 2-0 victory over Rio Ave in the first leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-final.
