Mr. Tran Quoc Ban - former member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province is a shining example for many people in terms of dignity, sacrifice, absolute loyalty to the Party, respect for the People, seriousness and dedication throughout his life of work.

Mr. Tran Quoc Ban was born on December 27, 1932 in Vinh Dai village, Duc Vinh commune (now Quang Vinh commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province) in a poor farming family. Mr. Ban's childhood was filled with the phrase "The pain of the family brings pain to the country".

His parents died early, and his grandmother had to work as a hired hand plowman all day to raise three orphaned grandchildren. Luckily, Mr. Ban was an intelligent and bright boy. Despite the hardships, his grandmother still wanted him to go to school. Thanks to his grandmother's silent sacrifice, Mr. Tran Quoc Ban was able to study until the third grade of high school. Perhaps his grandmother's kindness, tolerance, patience, and diligence were the most precious energy that nurtured his character as he grew up. Being able to learn to read and write, and having many interactions with friends and teachers, Mr. Ban soon became aware of patriotism.

“The revolution broke out, then the long-term resistance war.” At the age of 18, Mr. Ban said goodbye to his grandmother, goodbye to his homeland, and joined the Vietnam People’s Army. The more arduous and fierce the battlefield was, the more he grew in will and strength. In 1954, Tran Quoc Ban became a political officer of the company, belonging to Battalion 326, Regiment 18, Military Region IV. On March 23, 1957, Tran Quoc Ban was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam. In April 1959, his unit transferred him to work as an organizational officer at Vinh Architectural Company. After that, his superiors sent him to study at Ha Dong Architectural College. After completing the course, he transferred to work at Ha Tinh Architectural Department.

Thanks to his health, knowledge and ability, pioneering in work, exemplary in lifestyle, Tran Quoc Ban soon became a leader who shouldered the mission assigned by the industry. In September 1966, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Head of the Ha Tinh Department of Architecture. In August 1969, he was sent by his unit to receive formal training at the Hanoi University of Construction. Mr. Tran Quoc Ban's career path and career have been brilliant since then. No matter what environment or field of work, Mr. Ban always maintains his nature of sincerity, modesty, simplicity, and harmony with his brothers and comrades. He always takes Uncle Ho's teachings "Diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality" to study and strive for his whole life.

Thinking about Mr. Tran Quoc Ban, memories awaken in my heart. In 1978, I worked as a reporter for Nghe Tinh Newspaper, and my brother worked as an officer in the Construction Organization Department of Nghe Tinh Construction Department. Mr. Ban was then the Deputy Director of Nghe Tinh Construction Department. Thanks to many visits to my brother, I learned more about him, both in appearance and in character. Mr. Ban was an avid reader (especially technical books on architecture, construction, and transportation) to accumulate knowledge and be more creative when directing construction projects. His feet were always moving, approaching all units near and far.

Such field trips helped him understand more about human resources, facilities, professional characteristics, and geographical environment, so that he could come up with solutions for his leadership work. During those years, just a few years after entering the province, there were two major floods that flooded the entire city of Vinh. The whole province of Nghe Tinh was devastated, farmers had bad crops, and cadres and workers were seriously short of food and clothing. At that time, Mr. Tran Quoc Ban had to raise three young children, which made things even more difficult. However, he always lived happily and optimistically.

During the period of 1978 - 1984, experts from the German Democratic Republic were speeding up the construction progress of Quang Trung collective housing area and welfare works in Vinh city. Mr. Ban was assigned by Mr. Chau - Head of Nghe Tinh Construction Department to coordinate and supervise each project item during the construction process.

Thanks to his simplicity and modesty, Mr. Tran Quoc Ban created a close relationship with the head of the delegation and the experts in the delegation. They worked with all their might, regardless of the scorching hot summer wind or the biting cold winter, for a bright Vinh city. In August 1981, Mr. Chau was allowed to retire by the State, and Mr. Tran Quoc Ban was trusted by his colleagues and the leaders of Nghe Tinh province, and promoted to Director of the Nghe Tinh Department of Construction (at this time he was also a member of the Provincial Party Committee, Party Secretary, and the agency's delegation).

After the separation of the province (1991), Mr. Ban, who was then Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, together with Mr. Nguyen Ky - Chairman of the People's Committee of the province and the provincial leaders, "worked together" with the determination to make "the situation of Ha Tinh stand out" as Uncle Ho had instructed. Assigned by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, with the responsibility of directing the construction, transportation, and industry sectors, with his long-standing experience in the profession, along with his dynamism and creativity, Mr. Tran Quoc Ban has left many marks in the development process of Ha Tinh.

Understanding the situation of cadres and workers, when he first came to the province, no one had land to build a house, Mr. Ban and the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee met to discuss finding land and granting land at "subsidized" prices for everyone to settle down and make a living. The land granting was reviewed by the meeting agency, openly and democratically for each subject. Thanks to that, thousands of cadres and workers were able to build houses, work with peace of mind, and stay close to their families and hometowns. After taking care of stabilizing the organization, Mr. Tran Quoc Ban continued to direct major goals in the fields of construction and transportation.

Among them, many meaningful projects such as: Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital, headquarters of provincial agencies located in Ha Tinh town, Thanh Sen Hotel, Provincial Children's Cultural Palace, Vung Ang Transport Port..., especially the largest projects of Ha Tinh in terms of traffic such as: 22/12 Road, Ho Do Bridge, Road 13 extending from Ha Tinh town to Huong Khe town, etc.

How can I describe his selfless labor and silent sacrifice? How can I describe his warm and sincere feelings for his compatriots and comrades? Now, Mr. Tran Quoc Ban has returned to the "world of the good people" but his image is still preserved in me with his square, kind face, strong gait, and confident smile. That smile, as if to give me more fire "Life is never boring" and I must live a meaningful life.
