To achieve this goal, contributing to building solid homes, helping poor households, near-poor households, and policy families "settle down and make a living", communes and towns in Yen Binh district have been actively implementing solutions to create fundamental changes in the quality of housing in the district, towards the goal of all people having stable housing, having conditions to improve their living standards, and escaping poverty sustainably.

For many years, Ms. Tran Thi Than in Ngoi Bang village (Bao Ai commune, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province) has had to live in a shack surrounded by tarpaulin and broken roofing sheets. Ms. Than's shack was built on her nephew's garden land. Having no land to live in, being old, weak, and living alone, Ms. Than has been one of the poor households in Bao Ai commune for many years. With the attention of the local government, supported by 60 million VND under the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025 and being given land by her nephew to build a house, at the end of February 2025, Ms. Than's new house was started to be built with an area of ​​35m2 .

"My cousin gave me land so I could have a place to live. Now the government gives me money to build a house, I'm very happy, having a place to live is very happy," Mrs. Tran Thi Than said emotionally.

Sharing the joy with Mrs. Than, Mr. Nguyen Trong Tai's family, residing in Tan Tien village (Cam An commune, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province) was also supported with 60 million VND to build a house under the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025. As a war invalid infected with toxic chemicals and having reduced working capacity, Mr. Tai is currently living with his youngest son and his wife. The family's life still faces many difficulties. With the support of the local government, Mr. Tai's family's new house with an area of ​​140 m2 began construction in early March 2025.

Mr. Tai shared: "Life is very difficult. Now, with the help of departments, branches, organizations, and local authorities, I have built a new house, which is more spacious, more convenient, and my life will develop in the future. I just want to thank you, I don't know what else to say. I'm so happy!"

To effectively implement the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households and households with meritorious services in the area, Cam An commune has established a Steering Committee, assigned specific tasks to members, and focused efforts on the set goals for 2025. Along with that, in addition to the supported funding, the commune also mobilized additional resources and mobilized the cooperation of mass organizations to help poor households, near-poor households and households with meritorious services build quality houses.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam An Commune, Yen Binh District, Yen Bai Province, said that before implementing the project, the locality also focused on reviewing eligible subjects to have dilapidated houses removed; at the same time, advising the Party Committee and local authorities to develop a plan to implement the program to remove temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households and households with meritorious services.

"During the implementation process, after the review is completed, we will also mobilize households to concentrate resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. Up to now, the locality has 10 households that are eligible to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025. Construction has started and is underway, striving to complete in June 2025." The Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam An commune emphasized.

In recent times, the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for people with housing difficulties has always received special attention from Yen Binh district (Yen Bai province), contributing to improving the quality of people's lives. In 2025, implementing the Prime Minister's direction on responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", Yen Binh district has resolutely directed units, departments and branches to mobilize resources to support the repair and construction of houses for 191 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households and people with meritorious services in the area with a total implementation cost of 10.5 billion VND.

To complete the set goals, the district has established a Steering Committee and a Working Group to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses at the district level; assigning specific tasks to specialized departments, offices and communes and towns. At the same time, propaganda has been stepped up, awareness has been raised, and consensus has been created among the people. Thanks to that, up to now, Yen Binh district has had 56/191 houses started construction, including 47 new houses and 9 repaired houses.

With the goal of completing the construction of houses for families of meritorious people, martyrs' relatives, poor households, and near-poor households before June 30, 2025, Yen Binh district is currently continuing to direct and urge agencies, units, and localities to speed up the construction progress to ensure compliance with the set plan; promptly remove difficulties in the process of organizing and implementing at the grassroots level. At the same time, directing communes and towns to mobilize local resources such as labor days, funds from people and clans to support and help households build houses, especially single-parent and disadvantaged households. Especially for households that are unable to build houses themselves, communes and towns assign mass organizations, villages, and groups to directly organize the construction of houses for households.
