As of mid-March 2025, Kien Giang province had a total of 10,033 registered fishing vessels, an increase of 27 vessels compared to the end of 2024. Of which, fishing vessels from 6m to under 12m were 5,047 vessels, fishing vessels from 12m to under 15m were 1,366 vessels and fishing vessels from 15m and above were 3,620 vessels.

Implementing Decision No. 2075 of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province, the province has announced a list of 2,705 unregistered fishing vessels in the area. This is a group of "3 no" fishing vessels (no registration, no inspection and no fishing license). Through the results of inspection and survey, there are 615 fishing vessels on the list that do not meet the technical conditions for registration and inspection, the remaining 2,090 "3 no" fishing vessels meet the conditions for registration. Registered fishing vessels have their data updated and fishing licenses granted to them in the Vnfishbase software.
The People's Committee of Kien Giang province has directed the Provincial Border Guard Command to resolutely not allow fishing vessels that do not meet the conditions for participating in fishing activities to leave port.
