The 24-year-old suffered a torn ligament and injury to his right knee during the CONCACAF Nations League third-place match between Canada and the United States on March 24. After returning to Germany, Davies immediately underwent surgery and was officially ruled out for the rest of the season.
Bayern are furious with the way CSA has handled the health of their key player. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen angrily stated: "We demand that the Canadian Federation fully investigate the incident and do not rule out the possibility of legal action."
"To allow a player with an obvious knee injury to travel on a 12-hour transcontinental flight without a thorough medical examination is gross negligence and a breach of the duty of basic medical care," he added.
Sports Director Christoph Freund was also upset: "Davies complained of fatigue before. He is the captain, a young man who always wants to contribute to his country. But this injury is the result of unprofessionalism and irresponsibility."
Head coach Vincent Kompany will not have Davies' service in the Bundesliga sprint stage as well as the journey to conquer the Champions League this season, when the final will be held right at home at the Allianz Arena.
Not only Davies, center back Dayot Upamecano also returned from the national team training camp with a minor knee injury. Meanwhile, defender Kim Min-jae, who had to sit out the match due to a previous injury, put Bayern's defense in a state of alarm.
