Further expand the scale and improve the quality of trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi

Within the framework of attending the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Summit (GMS 8) and working in China, on November 6, local time, in Kunming city, Yunnan province, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received comrade Lam Thien Lap, Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.

In an atmosphere of sincerity, trust and friendship, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Guangxi on its great achievements in socio-economic development; expressed his belief that the people of Guangxi will continue to gain important new achievements, soon building Guangxi into a modernized, prosperous and beautiful socialist autonomous region.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Guangxi is a locality. President Ho Chi Minh has the longest revolutionary period; Vietnam and Guangxi give each other support and assistance in the cause of national liberation and national construction; affirm that the Party and Government of Vietnam always attach importance to, support, and create all favorable conditions for Vietnamese localities to strengthen cooperation with Chinese localities, including Guangxi.

Guangxi Chairman Lam Thien Lap warmly congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in socio-economic development, innovation and international integration in recent times; affirmed that Guangxi always attaches importance to enhancing friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities, making practical contributions to the overall relationship between the two Parties and the two countries.

The two sides highly appreciated the important and encouraging developments in the extensive and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi in recent times with five bright spots in the fields of delegation exchanges at all levels, economic and trade cooperation, land border management cooperation, transport connection, opening and upgrading of border gates and people-to-people exchange, in which Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trade partner for 25 consecutive years.

Expecting a more commensurate cooperation relationship with the potential and level of the relationship, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to focus on effectively implementing and concretizing high-level common perceptions; promote the Spring Meeting Program between Secretaries and the Joint Working Committee Conference between Guangxi and the provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, and Ha Giang; and coordinate in organizing exchange activities of the "Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year" 2025.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides cooperate in implementing standard gauge railway lines connecting Guangxi with Vietnam; successfully implement the pilot model of smart border gates; and request Guangxi to continue facilitating goods, especially goods from China. Vietnamese agricultural products Imports into Guangxi, including the establishment of Inspection and Quarantine Stations;

Welcome Guangxi enterprises to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in the fields of green agriculture, clean energy, and sustainable development; promptly implement research and build a pilot model of the Cross-border Economic Cooperation Zone and cooperation in digital economy, electricity, and clean energy; continue to closely coordinate in border management;

Strengthen cooperation in law enforcement, immigration management, and cross-border crime prevention; accelerate upgrading and opening of new border gates and openings on the land border that the two sides have agreed on; safely and effectively operate the Ban Gioc Duc Thien Waterfall Scenic Area.

Agreeing with the directions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of Guangxi Lam Thien Lap affirmed his determination to promote cooperation between the two sides, expand and deepen friendly exchanges with Vietnamese localities, promote road and railway connections, especially railway routes from Guangxi connecting with the Dong Dang-Hanoi and Mong Cai-Hai Phong railways; quickly pilot smart border gates and measures to facilitate customs clearance such as establishing inspection and quarantine stations for Vietnamese agricultural products; promote the special advantages of both sides to connect more deeply through Guangxi with mainland China, to third countries as well as through Vietnam connecting with ASEAN countries.

Chairman Lam Thien Lap hopes that the two sides will further expand the scale and improve the quality of trade and investment cooperation, improve customs clearance efficiency with the "smart border gate" model, implement digital economic cooperation, electricity trading, strengthen border management, cooperate in preventing cross-border crimes, contributing to consolidating and deepening the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, bringing practical benefits to localities and people of both sides.
