Microsoft Vietnam wins double ACES 2023 awards

Let's talk with Ms. Nguyen Quynh Tram - General Director - who has just made her personal mark with the award "Most Inspirational Leader in Asia 2023".

- Hello Ms. Nguyen Quynh Tram, I heard that Microsoft Vietnam has just been honored as "Innovative Technology Enterprise in Asia 2023", can you share your feelings about this good news?

We are honored to be recognized as an Asia Innovative Technology Enterprise 2023 this year. This is a very meaningful award, a testament to the dedication and spirit of continuous innovation of all Microsoft Vietnam employees in creating advanced, sustainable products, solutions and technologies, bringing values to customers, partners and the community.

- Recognized as a pioneer in the technology field, what has Microsoft done differently from its competitors in the market?

Microsoft has been at the forefront for more than four decades. From the PC revolution to the era of cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

Microsoft has invested heavily in bringing AI to life and developing it responsibly, turning it into a powerful virtual “assistant.” This decision is strategic, stemming from the company’s mission to use technology to empower every individual and organization in the world to achieve more.

In Vietnam, we have partnered with Trusting Social, a pioneer in AI in the financial sector, to launch Agent Foundry, a platform that provides specialized virtual assistants for businesses. We have also partnered with VinBrain to develop the virtual assistant DrAid™, the first AI platform in Vietnam for comprehensive screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, diseases of the century, and hospital management.

- You were also honored with the category "Most Inspirational Leader in Asia 2023", what does this award mean to you and to the business?

This award is not just for me personally, but above all, it is the achievement of the whole team, my colleagues at Microsoft Vietnam. I sincerely thank those who have always given me trust, support and commitment to overcome difficulties and challenges with me to better support each individual, organization and business in Vietnam.

Additionally, the award is also a great opportunity for me to connect and learn from leaders and organizations across the Asia region.

- Speaking of your colleagues at Microsoft Vietnam, can you share how you inspire your employees every day?

First is to encourage learning. This comes from Microsoft's corporate culture of learn-it-all. Microsoft's goal is to create a learning culture that helps employees grow personally and professionally.

Second is empowerment. “Hand-holding” is not my style. I focus on coaching, empowering the team to do the work, to develop their potential.

Third is empathy. I value humility in accepting success and tolerance for failure. Everyone has the right to be wrong, the important thing is that they are given the opportunity to correct, learn, be empowered and do better afterwards.

And finally, the influence of leadership to promote corporate culture. Microsoft's working environment has inspired me and vice versa.

- What was a big challenge you faced? How did you build your leadership style to overcome that challenge?

One of the most difficult challenges that Microsoft Vietnam and I have faced is the COVID-19 pandemic. I had to make difficult decisions, maintain a level of flexibility, resilience and optimism to inspire positive energy for my employees, while supporting my partners to solve customer problems.

From this I learned to lead with empathy, agility and purpose. I also realized the importance of maintaining a strong vision and a calm mind, communicating with purpose and clarity, and leveraging the support and advice of trusted friends and colleagues.

- What advice do you have for young leaders who are on the path to asserting their leadership and guiding abilities?

Personally, I believe that every leader has their own strengths and abilities. Instead of seeing myself as a leader, I see myself more as a coach. I always encourage my team members to be creative, dare to think, dare to do and not be limited by what they have.

On the journey to success, we will face many difficulties and failures, but do not let them take away our optimism, consider them valuable lessons to learn, change and develop better.
