According to Engadget , Palworld, a game that has become a hit with its "Pokémon with a gun" style, has surpassed all predictions with 19 million copies sold since its Early Access release on January 19.
Developer Pocketpair said the game has sold 12 million copies on Steam and 7 million copies on Xbox, with over 1 million copies sold in just eight hours on launch day alone. Microsoft even confirmed that Palworld is the most successful third-party launch on Game Pass to date.
“The response from fans has been incredible,” Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe told Xbox Wire. “This is just the beginning for Palworld and us. The feedback from the community during early play will help us continue to improve the experience across all platforms.”
Palware has over 19 million players worldwide
In addition to being the biggest third-party launch on Game Pass, Palworld also set the record for the biggest day-one launch for a third-party title on Xbox Cloud Gaming (including Game Pass Ultimate). The game’s peak player count since launch reached nearly 3 million daily active users on Xbox, making Palworld the most played title on the platform during that time.
Microsoft stressed that the developer is still actively working on the early access version. "There's a lot more to come as Pocketpair refines the experience before the official 1.0 release," said Joe Skrebels of Xbox Wire. He said that Pocketpair is listening to player feedback and implementing what they've learned. He also said that cross-play, one of the most requested features, will be coming soon.
