Metro Line 1 resumes operations after weather-related disruption

(NLDO) - On the afternoon of December 27, at around 5:25 p.m., heavy rain and lightning suddenly appeared, activating the electrical safety protection system of the entire Metro Line 1.

Mr. Le Minh Triet, Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1), said that due to the adverse weather conditions, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) and HURC1 have decided to temporarily suspend the train schedule to ensure absolute safety for passengers.

Trains were moved to the nearest stations to avoid risks, and the entire Metro Line 1 system was thoroughly inspected. Station staff quickly reassured and guided passengers to move safely, ensuring order in the station area.

According to a HURC1 representative, stopping the train and thoroughly checking the system during the initial phase of operation is absolutely necessary to ensure maximum safety. Although it may cause temporary delays for passengers, this is an important measure to promptly handle potential risks.

After careful inspection and no abnormalities were found, MAUR and HURC1 decided to restore full line operations. Trains operated stably immediately afterwards, serving passengers smoothly.

Mr. Le Minh Triet said that by the end of December 26, Metro Line No. 1 had transported more than 467,545 passengers, with a total of 977 trains operating. This number exceeded the original plan by 37 trips due to the sudden increase in demand on opening days and Christmas.

MAUR representative emphasized that in the initial phase of putting Metro Line 1 into operation, all technical errors will be controlled and promptly resolved to ensure maximum safety for passengers and vehicles. HURC1 will also continue to closely coordinate with contractor HITACHI to improve operational quality in the coming time.

The operating unit expressed its hope that passengers would sympathize and share in the initial service phase, affirming that it always puts the safety and convenience of passengers first.

The entire operation process is closely monitored by HURC1 and the Management Board. Corrective measures and continuous assessments are carried out to ensure maximum safety for passengers and vehicles.
