According to the Principal, during his visit to the school to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of Nguyen Gia Thieu School (1950 - 2020), the General Secretary left behind love and admiration not only with sincere feelings for the teachers, feelings for former classmates, heartfelt advice for teachers and students of the school, but also with the thoughtfulness and depth of a great personality. That was when talking to his teacher, Teacher Le Duc Giang, former Party Cell Secretary, Homeroom Teacher of Class 10B of the school, the General Secretary recalled many memories and when asking about the family of the old homeroom teacher, the General Secretary addressed him very intimately and closely but still exuded respect for teachers and education, "Sir, how is your health?". Or when asking about the children of the old teacher, the General Secretary was like an older brother, "Sir, how are the children?". The way of addressing showed the General Secretary's intimacy, closeness, and respect for his teacher.

Also on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Nguyen Gia Thieu School (1950 - 2020), General Secretary, who was also President at that time, Nguyen Phu Trong stated: “I am very happy, excited and proud of the achievements that the School has achieved over the past 70 years. Compared to the time we studied, our School is now much more spacious, much cleaner, larger in scale and the learning conditions and facilities are more convenient, civilized, modern and complete; the level and quality of education and training are increasingly higher and better". The General Secretary and President believes that with the 70-year tradition of construction, development and growth, with many achievements and accumulated experiences, in the coming time, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School will continue to develop, grow, constantly progress, and achieve more and more great and better results, meeting new requirements that are increasingly higher and more difficult, worthy of the tradition, worthy of the name Nguyen Gia Thieu, worthy of the love, trust and demands of the Party, the State, and our people in general, and of the capital Hanoi in particular, contributing to the cause of building and protecting the capital and the country.

Remembering the General Secretary's advice, over the years, teachers and students of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School have always strived to improve, always being one of the key high-quality schools in Hanoi, making many contributions to the innovation of high school programs and textbooks and the innovation of teaching methods. In recent days, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School has flown its flag at half-mast to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a former student of the school.

In addition to its high academic achievements, Nguyen Gia Thieu High School is also known as a school that provides comprehensive education for students in terms of life skills, legal knowledge, respect for teachers, and the will to overcome difficulties in studying... In particular, in the curriculum, the school always attaches importance to traditional education. Also in the last school year, the school organized the admission of 5 more students to the Party (the previous school year the school also had 2 students honored to be in the Party's ranks). Nguyen Gia Thieu School (now Nguyen Gia Thieu High School) was established in 1950, with its first campus in Lac Tho village, Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh. In 1951, the school moved to its current location at No. 27, Lane 298, Ngoc Lam Street, Long Bien District, Hanoi.

Welcoming the General Secretary and President to attend the 70th Anniversary of its founding in 2020, the school was also honored to receive the Third Class Independence Medal from the State, this is the 5th time the school has been honored to receive this noble award.
