The information suggests that there may not be a new MacBook laptop coming this year, according to Techradar .
MacBook M3 expected to launch next year
DigiTimes has just released a report predicting laptop shipments over the next five years. Accordingly, Apple will see a significant decline in shipments in 2023 as the company plans to switch to TSMC's 3nm CPUs to upgrade performance in 2024. Thus, MacBook sales will decline this year as Apple does not plan to launch any new laptops until 2024.
Apple is currently developing a new chip manufactured on TSMC's 3nm process. This process is expected to improve performance compared to the 5nm M2 chip in the current MacBook line.
While the M2 is still a great chip, it’s not the leap over the M1 that was expected. If the M3 lives up to expectations, it could bring new levels of performance to Apple’s portable Macs.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously said Apple would launch new Macs with the M3 chip in October, with a 13-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 24-inch iMac. MacRumors also believes new Macs are coming soon. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has disputed this, saying no new MacBooks will be released before 2024.
