The reason why 'Brother Overcoming Thousands of Challenges' production was temporarily suspended

The producer of "Brother Overcoming Thorns" said that this program will not exist in 2025, and the couple will shift to completely new entertainment content.

The producer has just announced that there will be no Anh trai vu ngan chong ga i and Chi dep dap gio in 2025. This is unfortunate news for fans of the two shows mentioned above. It is also surprising news for the entertainment market because both shows, especially Anh trai vu ngan chong gai, are "money-making" brands for the producer.

The question is why don't they take advantage of the heat of the 2 shows to immediately launch the next seasons?

"Gold mine" from handsome brothers and sisters

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong, Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts, Anh Trai Vuon Ngan Hong Gai is expected to earn 340 billion VND from advertising and media revenue.

In addition, Anh trai vu ngan cong gai has successfully organized 2 concerts in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Of which, the concert in Ho Chi Minh City also attracted more than 20,000 audiences. The great popularity of this program created the premise for the production team to decide to organize a 3rd concert in Ho Chi Minh City next March.

This is the first time a music program has exploded in Vietnam and the biggest beneficiary is the production unit. In addition to concerts, advertising and many other sources of revenue from Anh trai vu ngan cong gai have brought huge revenue to the company behind the program. It also led to a remarkable growth in stock price and also raised the company's position in the market.

In just the first 9 months of 2024, Anh Trai Manufacturing Group overcame thousands of obstacles to achieve revenue of 629 billion VND, an increase of 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2023. Profit after tax even increased 4.5 times, reaching nearly 56 billion VND.

The "Big Brothers" fever has lasted for months and almost "drowned" any other entertainment programs or events.

Before the brothers, this production unit had Chi dep dap gio roi song which was also a phenomenon in the music market. This program did not explode and have a big influence like Anh trai travail ngan cong gai but it also revived Yeah1 Group from a period of decline and difficulty. And as CEO Ngo Thi Van Hanh shared, "If we did not experience Chi dep, we would hardly have successfully produced Anh trai".

Lessons from "Pretty Sister Riding the Wind"

Explaining the announcement of the suspension of the two shows, the producer said: "We want the audience to have a break. Therefore, the two shows 'Anh trai vu ngan cong gai' and 'Chi dep dap gio' will not be held this year."

The second season of Chi Dep will air at the end of 2024, only about a year after the first season. This show has many advantages at the time of its broadcast, first of all, it is a continuation of Anh Trai Vuon Ngan Cong Gai and "inherits" the existing heat from the first season. However, Chi Dep Dap Gio was not as successful as the first season and did not meet the audience's expectations in many aspects, first of all, music and then technique.

It was also the overwhelming heat of Anh trai vu ngan cong gai that unintentionally overshadowed the beautiful sisters when these two programs aired at the same time. When Chi dep dap gio was released, the audience and the market had not yet escaped the cover of the brothers. Therefore, not only Chi dep but most of the entertainment programs that aired at the same time and after Anh trai vu ngan cong gai, Anh trai “say hi” no longer had space to develop further.

2 brother shows with the participation of 63 male artists plus Chi dep dap gio season 2 with more than 60 beautiful women, not to mention music shows like Our Song - Bai hat cua chu ta, Rap Viet... make the market constantly immersed in competition of music game shows and almost all artists in Vpop "jump" into the competitions. As the program representative shared, the audience easily falls into a situation of overeating and boredom.

Besides, the exhaustion of "Sister Dep Dap Gio" makes the audience wonder if the production crew is running out of ideas after a long time of making 3 consecutive shows.

The problem with Chi Dep Dap Gio lies in the music. Before the 5th performance, the music, the most important part of the program, did not satisfy the audience's expectations. There were too many songs by music director Hua Kim Tuyen and the way the arrangements were made was not diverse and new enough. As a result, very few performances became hits on social networks, quite different from the situation in the first season and Anh trai vu ngan cong gai.

3 music game shows in about 2 years with hundreds of performances took place, the audience was overwhelmed, and the producers were also faced with a big challenge. They were required to be more creative, to come up with new, attractive performances to avoid repeating what they had done.

In that context, temporarily putting aside the handsome guys and pretty girls, the producer will focus on making HAHA Farm and Show It All. In which , Show It All focuses on developing young talents, while HAHA Farm has light content, contributing to promoting Vietnamese agriculture.

The producer's decision to temporarily suspend two music game shows to switch to a new program is a risky but reasonable decision in the current context, so that both the crew and the audience can have time to rest and receive new sources of entertainment content.
