"Although many test takers have completed the SAT, we deeply apologize to those students who were unable to complete the test due to the difficulties and frustration caused," said a College Board representative.

Immediately after a system error occurred that caused many candidates taking the SAT test to stop on the morning of March 8, the College Board (the testing organization and supervisor of international standardized SAT tests worldwide) informed Dan Viet newspaper reporters.

Accordingly, Ms. Holly Stepp, Director of Communications and Press Relations of the College Board confirmed: "During the global SAT test on March 8, some candidates experienced technical problems with the Bluebook test application. This led to some candidates' tests being automatically submitted before completion. We have identified the problem and have fixed this situation for future tests."

"Although many candidates have completed their exams, we deeply and sincerely apologize to those students who were unable to complete their exams due to the difficulties and disappointment caused," said Holly Stepp, who was not involved in the system error.

We are committed to ensuring that all candidates are successful in their exams. We will contact those affected as soon as possible and provide options, including make-up exams at a later date."

Previously, many candidates taking the SAT exam in Hanoi were confused and said that many exam rooms were "out" 5-10 minutes early due to system app errors. Some candidates even said that their exam papers were automatically submitted 25 minutes before the end time.

Speaking with Dan Viet newspaper reporter, Bui Anh Tuan, a 12th grade student at Xuan Dinh High School, Hanoi, and many other candidates had problems with the SAT test.

Tuan said he took the exam at the Center for Women and Development, Tay Ho District, Hanoi. There were still 15 minutes left but Tuan's exam was automatically submitted before finishing the Math section of module 2.

"I hope the College Board will re-organize the exam as soon as possible so that I can get my university entrance exam and have time to review for my graduation exam at school. Personally, I was a bit confused at first, but after knowing it was an error, I felt more comfortable because maybe there is a silver lining in the bad luck. I have more time to review and get some practice with the real exam environment," said Anh Tuan.

According to the share, Anh Tuan will use the SAT score to consider entering universities with economic strengths such as Foreign Trade University and National Economics University.

Nguyen Minh Duc, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Ha Dong District, Hanoi, also encountered a similar situation: "I was doing my test at Hanoi University of Science and Technology when suddenly the system announced that I had to submit my test 25 minutes early. Many other candidates were also as excited and confused as me."

Duc said that this incident did not affect him too much because he had previously scored 1560 points on the exam. However, the major he wanted to apply for last year required a 1550 SAT score, so he wanted to take the exam this time to achieve a safer score (1570+) and partly to prove himself because he had been unlucky on the previous exams.

Some other students said they are waiting for the College Board to announce soon because they are worried that the university application deadline will be late.

A representative of the IIG Vietnam Education Organization confirmed the incident on the morning of March 8. "This is a global system error of the College Board. This morning, there were many exam locations. In Vietnam, IIG has 2 exam locations that have problems: Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Banking Academy. Candidates who took the exam before 11am were not affected, but candidates who took the exam after 11am encountered the above situation."

In recent years, many candidates have been interested in the SAT exam in addition to other foreign language certificates. This is a standardized competency assessment test widely used for university admission in the US education system. In addition, SAT scores are also accepted by many universities around the world such as in Canada, Australia, UK, Korea, Singapore... and Vietnam.

The SAT is administered several times a year. The skills tested on the SAT include Reading, Language, and Mathematics. Reading consists of 52 questions over 65 minutes; Language consists of 44 questions over 35 minutes; Mathematics consists of 58 questions over 80 minutes.

According to the latest announcement from the College Board, the SAT exam fee in the US is 68 USD. International candidates will have to pay an additional fee of 43 USD. Thus, in Vietnam, the SAT exam fee this year is 111 USD, equivalent to 2.8 million VND. In addition, candidates will have to pay additional fees when they have special needs such as: Cancellation fee, rescheduling fee of 29 USD (733,000 VND); urgent result notification fee in case candidates need early scores of 31 USD (783,000 VND).
