The 16th National Radio Festival

The National Radio Festival is a professional activity of the Vietnamese radio industry, held every two years, to discover and honor outstanding authors and works of radio journalists nationwide. This is also an opportunity for journalists, editors, and reporters to exchange, learn, improve their skills, and contribute to improving the quality of radio programs.

The 16th National Radio Festival - 2024 is organized by Voice of Vietnam in coordination with Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Thanh Hoa Provincial Radio and Television Station with the theme "Vietnam Radio - Diversity in digital transformation".

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam, Head of the Organizing Committee Tran Minh Hung said: "This year, the National Radio Festival takes the theme "Vietnam Radio - Diversity in digital transformation" because in the strategy for digital transformation of the press to 2025, with a vision to 2030, it is also clearly defined that digital transformation of the press aims to build press agencies in a professional, humane, and modern direction, fulfilling well the mission of information and propaganda to serve the revolutionary cause of the Party, the cause of innovation of the country, ensuring the role of leading and orienting public opinion, maintaining information sovereignty in cyberspace, innovating readers' experiences, and creating new sources of revenue for the digital content industry.

At the same time, digital transformation will also bring many benefits to journalists in general and radio in particular, which is to increase public access, thereby contributing to improving the quality, content of programs, and methods of expression in the program production process. In addition, it also increases the ability of the public to interact and participate in press activities, thereby creating new business models - Mr. Tran Minh Hung emphasized.

The 16th National Radio Festival - 2024 has the participation of 81 units (including 63 provincial and municipal Radio and Television Stations, units of the Voice of Vietnam, the People's Army Radio and Television Center, the People's Public Security Communications Department) with 380 works in 6 genres: Reportage, thematic programs, interviews, ethnic language radio programs, radio stories, live radio programs; and 5 award categories: digital platform application, podcast, excellent staging technique, golden voice, excellent program host.

The works submitted to the Festival this year are of uniform quality, the topics are all correct, relevant and topical, the production is elaborate and there are many innovations and creativity. In particular, this year is also the first year that the podcast category has been included in the Festival for awards, with the desire to encourage the diverse development of media types, in order to better meet the needs of the public.

After the preliminary round held in Tuyen Quang province, the jury selected 228 works from 81 units to enter the final round, specifically: 53 works in the reportage genre; 28 works in the interview genre; 30 radio stories; 48 radio topics; 32 ethnic language radio programs and 37 live radio programs.

The final round of the 16th National Radio Festival - 2024 will be held from July 9 to 14, 2024. The opening ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m. on July 11, 2024. The closing ceremony will be held at 8:00 p.m. on July 13, 2024 at Lam Son Theater, Thanh Hoa Province and will be broadcast live on the radio and television of the Voice of Vietnam, Radio and Television Stations of provinces and cities and on digital platforms.

Sharing at the press conference, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung expressed his joy at hosting the 16th National Radio Festival - 2024.

Within the framework of the Final Round of the 16th National Radio Festival - 2024, the Voice of Vietnam and Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station also organized exciting professional, cultural and sports activities, creating a forum for Vietnamese radio workers to exchange, meet and share experiences. These are the international conference "Digital transformation of radio: International and Vietnamese practices"; the program "9th National Exchange of Cheo art lovers in 2024" and the "For healthy waves" race./.
