The 2nd National Press Awards Ceremony on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas of Vietnam in 2024

(CLO) On the evening of December 10, the award ceremony of the "2nd National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam 2024" took place at the Opera House, Hanoi and was broadcast live on VTV2 - Vietnam Television.

The 2nd National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam in 2024 is chaired by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department and the Vietnam Journalists' Association; Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet Newspaper is assigned to coordinate with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam - Agribank to directly organize the implementation.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2nd National Press Awards on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas in 2024, Comrade Bui Thi Thom - Vice President of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Head of the Award Steering Committee emphasized the important role of the award in raising awareness, encouraging creativity and spreading the value of press works on agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

This year’s award, shortly after its launch, has attracted nearly 2,000 entries from across the country, including both professional and amateur journalists. Major press agencies such as Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, and many local press agencies also submitted high-quality entries.

The works not only reflect the reality of rural life, but also analyze in depth, provide solutions and criticism, and at the same time honor typical factors and spread positive values.

The performances were elaborately invested in at the 2nd National Press Awards Ceremony on Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas in 2024.

The final jury, consisting of prestigious experts from various fields, worked impartially and objectively to select the 42 best works. This year's outstanding works such as "The Road of Agricultural Products 2023 - The Position of Agriculture" by VTV or "Green Credit - The Driving Force for Sustainable Development" by Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper demonstrated the transformation of Vietnamese agriculture towards green, circular and multi-value. In particular, the works also portrayed the image of farmers in the new era - civilized, creative and professional.

The process of writing works about agriculture, farmers, and rural areas is often considered "difficult - miserable - dry" but clearly today our authors with their excellent works have proven the complete opposite. That is when you are truly dedicated, put yourself in the role of the character, live with the farmers, worry about their worries, and struggle with their concerns and problems, then surely each journalistic work about agriculture, farmers, and rural areas will reflect the true breath of life in the country's agricultural sector, reflecting the true thoughts and aspirations of the farmers.

And in that arduous journey, there are also many touching stories, inspirational stories, sweat and tears to achieve the sweet results of today. Journalists and reporters have worked day and night in the forest, at the sea, in the fields and barns to meet and talk with farmers, thereby creating the most authentic articles, reports, films and sounds on the topics of agriculture, farmers and the countryside.

At the National Press Awards ceremony on "Agriculture, Farmers, Rural Areas of Vietnam 2024" this year, the organizing committee awarded 2 A Prizes, 4 B Prizes, 6 C Prizes, 10 Encouragement Prizes and 20 Special Prizes.

Among them, the 20 thematic awards selected to be given to the authors today are also the most outstanding works reflecting current issues in the agricultural and rural areas such as: land accumulation, eco-tourism, NET ZERO production or promoting agricultural trade, digital transformation or agricultural insurance, etc.

Comrade Le Hai Binh - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine and Comrade Phan Nhu Nguyen - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union awarded the C prize to the winning works.

In particular, the Organizing Committee also awarded 2 A-prize works, including the 5-part series "Western farmers run out of breath after the productivity race" by the group of authors: Ngoc Tai, Phung Tien, Huy Phong, Khanh Hoang of VNExpress e-newspaper.

And the TV series "Agricultural Road 2023 - The position of Vietnamese agriculture" by a group of reporters and editors from the News Department, Vietnam Television: Vu Xuan Dung, Thai Anh Thu, Hoang Ngoc Bich, Phan Hoang Duong, Tran Minh Thu, Tran Khanh Trang, Nguyen Ha Mai, Hoang Minh Duc, Vu Thanh Luan, Le Trong Duc, Pham Quang Nam.

Comrade Pham Tien Nam - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and Comrade Nguyen Thi Su - Deputy General Director of VNA awarded consolation prizes to the winning works.

According to the Organizing Committee, journalism is a special profession, not only recording and preserving multi-dimensional moments of life but also contributing to spreading beautiful images, condemning negative issues, and criticizing issues that are still limited and lacking.

Reporting on agriculture is even more special when it brings seemingly simple but impressive images through pen, film, and sounds from life.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee of the National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam continued to launch and call on professional and non-professional journalists and authors across the country to participate in the 3rd National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam - 2025.

The Organizing Committee will provide specific information about the detailed rules of the competition on Dan Viet Online Newspaper, Vietnam Journalists Association Electronic Information Portal and mass media. The launching time of the competition will be organized later. However, from this moment, authors and journalists can cherish and explore new topics, contributing to the increasingly attractive and exciting third season of the competition.
