Vuc Rao fishing festival attracts hundreds of participants

Vuc Rao is a deep, wide creek running along the foot of Vuc mountain with a natural area of ​​about 30 hectares, about 1km long, located in Xuan Vien commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province.

The oldest people in the area do not know when Vuc Rao was created, they only know that since ancient times, Vuc Rao has appeared with cool, clear water, many caves and ponds, suitable for freshwater fish such as grass carp, bighead carp, common carp, etc. to live, breed and develop.

Because it is a stream that follows the foot of the mountain, the water at Vuc Rao is extremely clear and cool.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam (62 years old), a local resident, said that since he was a child, he followed his friends here to bathe, play and catch fish. The strange thing is that the fish in Vuc Rao are very big, the meat is firm and delicious, and the water is cool and clear all year round.

Vuc Rao is associated with the childhood memories of local people.

In order to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, Nghi Xuan District People's Committee has organized the Vuc Rao fishing festival every year. This year, the festival was held at the end of June, attracting hundreds of participants.

Every year, during the Vuc Rao fishing festival, hundreds of people bring their nets and tools and come early in the morning to catch fish.

It is known that this is a traditional activity, appearing since the beginning of the 18th century. However, until now, the Vuc Rao fishing festival still retains its own identity, attracting a large number of local people and visitors from all over the world to participate.

The unique feature is that the fish in Vuc Rao are very big, the meat is tough and delicious.

Mr. Trieu Thanh Khoa (70 years old), from Phu Tho province, said that when he heard about this festival, his family and neighbors rented a 16-seat passenger car to Ha Tinh to attend.

“We combined visiting our in-laws and attending the festival. This is a festival that preserves the beautiful and meaningful culture of the countryside, creating a space for exchange and strengthening solidarity among people,” said Mr. Khoa.

In addition to local people, the Vuc Rao fishing festival also attracts foreign visitors.
