According to Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch, the volume of goods cleared through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II, Lao Cai reaches an average of 250 to 280 vehicles/day.

Of which, the average export is 60 to 80 trucks/day, the main export products are agricultural products such as dragon fruit, watermelon, banana, cassava, durian...

Because the Vietnamese side is still operating normally, Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch has arranged enough forces according to regulations to ensure smooth customs clearance of goods for the business community.

According to an update from Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, from the beginning of the year to September 28, 581 enterprises carried out import and export procedures at the unit, with 44,220 declarations.

Total import-export turnover reached nearly 747 million USD, of which export reached 429.5 million USD; import reached 317.48 million USD.

This year, Lao Cai province aims to reach an import-export turnover of 5 billion USD, double that of 2022.

To shorten the time and cost of customs clearance and import and export of goods, at the end of last month, the digital application was officially deployed at Kim Thanh Road Border Gate. Organizations and individuals with entry, exit, import and export activities can make declarations on the system: https://cuakhauso.laocai.gov.vn.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province, the total value of import and export, purchase and sale, and exchange of goods through Lao Cai border gates in the first 8 months of 2023 reached more than 1.3 billion USD, down 9.78% over the same period in 2022 and equal to 26.06% of the annual plan.

Of which, the export value reached over 575 million USD, down 9.81% compared to the same period in 2022 and equal to 26.77% of the annual plan. The import value reached over 331 million USD, down 14.08% compared to the same period in 2022 and equal to 38.09% of the annual plan. Other types reached 396.18 million USD, down 5.78% compared to the same period in 2022 and equal to 20.01% of the annual plan.

Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch has also created favorable conditions for businesses in import and export activities, customs clearance of goods focusing on agricultural products, ensuring the fastest speed and avoiding congestion. In addition, Lao Cai Customs is also actively coordinating with related sectors to support businesses in making declarations, connecting information from electronic customs data with digital border gates to ensure the fastest service for people and businesses. To support import and export activities, Lao Cai province is also continuing to complete digital border gates connecting data to platforms and specialized software of sectors to share information.

The 23rd Vietnam - China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai) in 2023 will take place at Kim Thanh Exhibition Fair Center, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province from November 10 to November 15. The fair is expected to have 600 - 700 booths, including 200 booths from China and 24 booths from other countries and territories. The event is expected to help improve the efficiency of customs clearance through Lao Cai border gate.
