For the first time, Vietnam trains artificial intelligence engineers.

Today, June 15, the School of Information and Communications Technology (IT), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, introduced the "Generative AI Engineer Program" (Generative Artificial Intelligence, GenAI). This is the first time a university in Vietnam has opened a training program for Generative Artificial Intelligence engineers.

Attending the event were students interested in this training field, along with technology experts from Microsoft, Intel, AI Singapore, leading banks and technology enterprises in Vietnam such as Vin BigData, Techcombank, VPBank, GHTK...

According to Dr. Dinh Viet Sang, Director of the GenAI training program, this is a post-graduate program with a training period of 1.5 years for those who have a bachelor's degree in the field of IT-TT, or in the fields of mathematics, computational science, mathematical foundations for informatics... The recruitment source is students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and other universities.

GenAI students will be provided with basic and in-depth knowledge of AI, learning through experiences at leading enterprises, to apply knowledge into practice. The program is designed and taught by AI experts, the program's training partners are large corporations such as Microsoft and Amazon AWS.

Students practice on a GPU supercomputer system with DGX servers equipped with 8 A100 80 GB GPUs supporting GPUDirect, Dell EMC PowerScale F600 high-speed storage system, RAPID compute cluster with a total computing capacity of 15 TFlops, and NEC iStorage M310 large data storage system with a capacity of 500 TB.

At the ceremony, Associate Professor Ta Hai Tung, Principal of the School of Information Technology, shared: "With the birth of ChatGPT in the last days of 2022, the technology world has officially entered a new era with the explosion of GenAI artificial intelligence technologies. Through practical cooperation with businesses, we realize that there is currently a large demand for human resources in this field and are determined to pioneer in training high-quality human resources in GenAI artificial intelligence".

The School of Information Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is considered the leading training and research unit in the field of information technology in Vietnam. Each year, the school enrolls more than 1,100 students, all of whom are in the top 1% of candidates with the highest high school graduation exam scores nationwide. For many consecutive years, the school's computer science, data science and artificial intelligence programs have always had the highest standard scores in the country for group A.

The School of Information Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the first university in Vietnam to offer training in data science and artificial intelligence. In 2017, the school opened a master's program in data science; in 2019, it opened a bachelor's program in data science and artificial intelligence; these are two of the most prestigious AI training programs in Vietnam today.
