On February 1, Mr. Vo Ngoc Hiep, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, signed and issued a decision regulating the surcharge level and time of surcharge on passenger transport fares on some routes during the 2024 Lunar New Year, applicable to businesses providing passenger transport services by car on fixed inter-provincial routes.
Passenger transport businesses, depending on the route, are allowed to charge a maximum fare surcharge of no more than 60%.
Accordingly, inter-provincial routes from Binh Dinh to the Central and Northern regions will be surcharged up to 60% of current fares; the remaining inter-provincial routes will be surcharged up to 40% of current fares.
The Northern routes (from Binh Dinh and beyond), the Central and Western routes with terminals in Lam Dong province will be subject to surcharges from December 22 to 29, Quy Mao year 2023 (ie February 1 to February 8, 2024). For terminals in the Northern provinces, the Central and Western provinces, the surcharges will be subject to surcharges from January 4 to 13, Giap Thin year 2024 (ie February 13 to February 22, 2024).
The Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City and other routes with terminals in Lam Dong will apply surcharges from January 4 to January 10, 2024 (ie February 13 to February 19, 2024); for terminals in the Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City and other routes, surcharges will apply from December 24 to December 30, 2023 (ie February 3 to February 9, 2024).
If gasoline prices decrease, businesses must reduce fares according to regulations.
Enterprises shall apply the surcharge at the locality where they register their business and may only apply the maximum surcharge according to the above regulations after re-declaring the fare and posting the price according to regulations. They are not allowed to collect additional fares in other forms.
The above fare surcharge is only applied one way to or from the time of surcharge calculation as prescribed above.
During this time, if gasoline and oil prices decrease, passenger transport businesses are required to reduce fares according to regulations.
