Celebrating 50 years of Binh Dinh Province Liberation Day

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission attended and spoke at the Ceremony.

The opening speech presented by Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung at the Commemoration Ceremony reviewed the heroic revolutionary tradition of the Party Committee, army and people of Binh Dinh in the struggle for national liberation and homeland construction after the liberation day.

In the historic March days 50 years ago, the army and people of Binh Dinh province launched a general offensive to liberate Quy Nhon City and Binh Dinh province in the spring campaign of 1975. After 28 days and nights of continuous attacks and uprisings, continuous fighting and victory, at 8:00 p.m. on March 31, 1975, the victory flag of the army and people of Binh Dinh fluttered on the roof of the lobby of the Saigon puppet government's Administrative Building, marking a great moment in the history of the province: Binh Dinh province was completely liberated, ending the nearly 21-year long and arduous resistance war against the US to save the country in Binh Dinh homeland.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Quoc Dung affirmed that, inheriting and promoting the indomitable tradition of the heroic homeland of Binh Dinh, right after the liberation day, together with the whole country, the Party Committee and people of Binh Dinh embarked on the task of healing the wounds of war and rebuilding the homeland.

In particular, in the past 10 years, the province's socio-economic development has been rapid. The province's economic growth rate has averaged 7% per year; the scale of the economy has been constantly expanding. From a poor province, it has now risen to 25th place out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. The appearance of urban, rural and mountainous areas has been renewed and improved. The lives of people in the province have been increasingly improved and enhanced. Political security and social order and safety have been maintained; national defense and security have been consolidated and increasingly strengthened.

With achievements and feats in the resistance war against the US to save the country as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the army and people of Binh Dinh were honored to be recognized, highly appreciated and awarded the Gold Star Order by the Party and State, the most noble Order of our State.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, commended, acknowledged and congratulated the outstanding results and achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Binh Dinh province have achieved over the past period. Those results are the crystallization of the intelligence, dedication and sweat of many generations of leaders, cadres, soldiers and all people of Binh Dinh province through the periods.

Respecting and being proud of the historical and cultural traditions and achievements in the renovation of the country and of Binh Dinh, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the Party Committee, government and people of Binh Dinh province must continue to arouse and promote strongly the strength of great national unity, join hands and hearts, with the will and aspiration to rise up, effectively promote all resources, all potential advantages, strive to build Binh Dinh province into a province with fast and sustainable development and become a leading group in the Central region.

"We need to continue to thoroughly grasp and implement resolutely, synchronously, scientifically and effectively the policy of rearranging administrative units and continuing to streamline the apparatus of the political system in the spirit of Resolution 18 of the Central Committee, Conclusion 121 of the Central Committee and the conclusions of the Politburo. This is an especially important task, requiring high unity within the Party and consensus among the people. Ensuring that the apparatus, when put into operation, must achieve greater and better efficiency, must be proactive, constantly stay close to the grassroots, stay close to the people, and wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people," emphasized the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that Binh Dinh province pay more attention, thoroughly grasp, fully and deeply understand, and effectively implement Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation. Increase investment and improve the efficiency of investment in developing science and technology potential. Actively respond to and widely implement the "popular digital education" movement, building Binh Dinh into a destination for industries, science and technology enterprises, domestic and international scientists. Binh Dinh must be worthy and worthy of being a Center for science, technology and innovation.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, awarded the Third Class Independence Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Binh Dinh province for their outstanding achievements in work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
