Hoa Lu Festival is held annually and is a long-standing cultural activity, vividly reflecting the life, background and career of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang and Vietnamese history through three dynasties: Dinh, Tien Le and Ly.
Over time, the Festival has become a cultural and spiritual activity of the people of the Ancient Capital in particular and the people of the whole country in general. With those typical and lasting values, Hoa Lu Festival has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, together with the Ancient Capital of Hoa Lu, creating the special value of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.
Thousands of people and tourists attended the celebration
At the celebration of the 1,100th anniversary of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang's birth and the opening of the Hoa Lu Festival in 2024, people and tourists enjoyed a special art program with the theme "Mission of the Imperial Capital" with the participation of hundreds of professional singers, artists, and dancers.
The highlight of the ceremony was the drone light performance, vividly simulating the story of King Dinh Tien Hoang from his youth to his reign as Emperor, opening the foundation of the Dai Co Viet nation after a thousand years of Chinese domination, along with the continuation of today's generation to build an increasingly innovative and prosperous homeland.
Dinh Tien Hoang's real name was Dinh Bo Linh, born on February 15, 924, in Dai Hoang village (now Gia Phuong commune, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province). He was the second son of Governor Dinh Cong Tru (Governor of Chau Hoan, concurrently Imperial Admiral under Duong Dinh Nghe and Ngo Quyen), his mother was Mrs. Dam Thi.
After successively pacifying the warlords, ending the "internal rebellion" in the mid-10th century, and unifying the country at the end of 967, Dinh Bo Linh ascended the throne in 968, calling himself Dinh Tien Hoang De, becoming the first emperor of Vietnam after the long period of Chinese domination; a national hero, initiating and laying the foundation for national unification, initially building a centralized feudal state.
