Kon Tum explains the reasons why investment attraction has not met expectations

Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee has just responded to voters' opinions on the situation of attracting investment into the locality. Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee said that promoting investment attraction is an important task that the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee always pay attention to and direct.

Recently, Kon Tum province has directed the review, development and promulgation of the List of investment attraction projects in the province for the period 2021-2025 in Decision No. 114/QD-UBND dated April 6, 2023 and supplemented the List of investment attraction projects in Kon Tum province for the period 2021-2025.

Accordingly, the Department of Planning and Investment has proactively disseminated and widely informed about the List of investment attraction projects (including projects on attracting investment in agricultural and industrial zones in Kon Tum city) to investors through many methods such as: Kon Tum Provincial Electronic Information Portal, Department of Planning and Investment's Electronic Information Page, Provincial Investment Promotion and Startup Support Center, social networking sites, in coordination with domestic and international investment promotion organizations such as: KOTRA, JICA, Investment and Trade Counselors in other countries... to seek help and support in promoting and introducing the potential, environment and investment opportunities in the province.

For Kon Tum city area, through reviewing the Investment Attraction List for the period 2021-20225, there are 3 projects attracting investment to develop and form agricultural and industrial zones, including: Kon Tum City High-tech Agricultural Project in Kroong Commune; Industrial - Handicraft Cluster in Hoa Binh Commune; Project to build a Vegetable, Root and Fruit Processing Factory in Ngo May Ward.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, there are currently a number of potential investors coming to study investment opportunities for the above projects. However, in the process of surveying and studying investment opportunities, investors encounter many difficulties regarding legal regulations and the actual situation of the locality (land allocation and lease on forestry land, regulations on planning law, compensation and site clearance work, etc.).

Therefore, investment attraction in the province has not met expectations. The Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant units to continue to pay attention to introducing and attracting investors to localities in the province to survey and explore investment opportunities; at the same time, focus on removing difficulties and obstacles for investors in the province.
