The Prime Minister suggested promptly discovering, praising and honoring talented women in all fields, spreading the good examples of Vietnamese women widely in society.
On the morning of March 8, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with female heroes of the People's Armed Forces, female heroes of Labor, female generals and attended the 40th anniversary of the Kovalevskaia Award and presented the Kovalevskaia Award in 2024.
The event was held on the occasion of the 1985th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung uprising, the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day and the 60th anniversary of the "Three Responsibilities" movement, towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
Speaking at the meeting, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen emphasized: Throughout the history of building and defending the country, Vietnamese women have always demonstrated the noble qualities of "Heroic, indomitable, loyal, and courageous", making important contributions to building the country and the brocade of Vietnam. The sacrifices and contributions of grandmothers, mothers, and sisters will forever be engraved, preserved, and passed on so that generations of Vietnamese women can continue to promote their contributions to the cause of building and developing the country.

Recognizing and appreciating the great contributions of female heroes of the armed forces, female heroes of labor, female generals, and female scientists over the past time, the Prime Minister also expressed his joy that the female intellectual force is growing stronger and stronger, many of whom have achieved great success both domestically and internationally, and have been recognized by the international community. In particular, in the period 2019-2024, 601 women were recognized as professors and associate professors, accounting for 21.5% of professors and associate professors nationwide.
According to the head of the Government, 2025 is of special significance, the year of many major commemorative events of the country, the year of "acceleration, breakthrough, and reaching the finish line", contributing to the successful implementation of the 5-year Plan 2021-2025; at the same time, focusing on arranging the organizational apparatus; organizing Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; contributing to "creating position, creating force, creating momentum" for the country to enter a new era - the era of striving for strong, prosperous development of the nation. To carry out the above tasks, it is necessary to "respect time, intelligence and decisiveness"; especially there must be synchronous, drastic and effective participation of the entire political system, business community and people nationwide, including the particularly important role of women.
In that spirit, the Prime Minister suggested that the Vietnam Women's Union continue to further promote the representative role of women of all classes in advising on support policies, creating conditions for Vietnamese women in general and female scientists in particular to continue to promote their talents and intelligence, and contribute to the progress and development of women.
The Prime Minister also requested that all levels, sectors and localities prioritize resources, have policies and mechanisms, and specific mechanisms to train, foster and develop high-quality female human resources in all fields, especially paying special attention to young female scientists, ethnic minorities, women working in disadvantaged areas, mountainous areas and islands in the country's digital age; promptly discover, commend and honor talented women in all fields, and spread the good example of Vietnamese women widely in society.
All levels, sectors and localities must create all favorable conditions for women to access and apply science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in production and life, especially in scientific research and creative startups, thereby contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
Kovalevskaia Prize awarded to two scientists
This year, the Kovalevskaia Award was presented to two individuals, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Tan, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi My Dung, Ho Chi Minh City National University, for their outstanding achievements in scientific research and practical application, contributing to the development of the unit and the industry, many research results put into practice, transferring billions of dong worth of technology to businesses in Vietnam.
